VA3 tally
Per your request, I've re-counted the tally, and according to my math, we are currently at 999 articles at VA3. Perhaps someone should double-check my work. GabeMc (talk|contribs) 22:03, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Gabe. That's exactly what I was afraid of: we have zero wiggle room. I'll ask PBP and Carl to do independent counts. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 23:39, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- You're welcome. FWIW, I think we may have a couple pending drops, but I only implemented ones where there was 10+ days of unanimous !votes. GabeMc (talk|contribs) 00:01, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Futurism, Vital articles
Your comment confused me slightly "I don't think either song merits inclusion" Are you in the belief I am trying to add a song called futurism? I am talking about the art movement "Futurism". I don't mind if you are opposing it, it's your call. So long as you know what you are voting for, your comment may confuse others to believe futurism is a song (or that you thought it was when you voted), that's how I took it anyway. Carlwev (talk) 11:27, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- OK I see your correction, just making sure. Carlwev (talk) 11:31, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Hmmm
What do you make of User:NetRoot7's edits? Jrcla2 (talk) 18:01, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- I say it looks remarkably suspicious, follows the pattern of template color changes, and the timing of the account creation is consistent with the blocking of prior sock puppets, but his subject areas have evolved. I suggest that you file a follow-up/re-open the DragoLink08 sock puppet investigation, and request a checkuser. It's suspicious enough and similar enough to request an SPI, but different enough not to just have an admin block him outright. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:24, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- That's kind of what I think too. I also think Drago is realizing that if he follows his exact editing patterns as before, it's an easy WP:DUCK block... NetRoot7 seems to have shied away from video game articles. Jrcla2 (talk) 18:31, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
- No doubt. I'm convinced that he has OCD or something similar, but he's not stupid. Not at all. We've already observed an evolution toward more edit summaries. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:34, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
I made the suggestion at the latest SPI, which maybe you missed, that any edit by any sock of DragoLink08 be reverted on sight. You're allowed to do that with banned users, and it's silly either to 1) let his edits stand just because he snuck in a couple hundred before anyone noticed or 2) go through them one by one to see if they're any good. Just rollback the lot. Once in a while you may encounter a question from another editor about what you're doing (it does look sort of arbitrary) but in my experience once you explain what you're up to, all's good. Once DL08 sees that it's taking us 3 minutes to undo 6 hours of his work, maybe he'll give up. (Maybe.) JohnInDC (talk) 13:03, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
College teams in lead
Any more thoughts on User talk:Dirtlawyer1/Archives/2013/March#College names in lead? I suppose there are more pressing issues, so no problem if you just wanted to pass on this.—Bagumba (talk) 17:28, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Wayne Peace
I just created a real piss-poor Wayne Peace article. Anything you could add would be great.--Yankees10 18:39, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Y10. Just got back from 9 days of travel. I'll try to add some things this week. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:55, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

- Thank you for the head's up; I have expressed my opinion at the AfD. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:55, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
What do you make of this? What are we going to do to stop it? pbp 03:05, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Reverted, with extended talk page explanation. Note the moratorium on VA changes is in effect through April 15, but that does not not stop discussion and !voting. Any approved changes can be implemented on May 16. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:55, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Request for uninvolved 3rd party to comment.
Hello. I am requesting your opinions at Talk:Thomas Savage (died 1611)#Move and add to Thomas Savage as a third party to a discussion which I feel is nearing an impasse. I feel confident that if you chose to participate, your comments ideas and suggestions will be neutral and non-biased in favor or against either of the currently involved participants. If you do not wish to participate, I understand and respect your wishes. Thank you. Technical 13 (talk) 19:42, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- T13, I have commented on the article talk page, and I also left a message on the DYK talk page requesting that one of the DYK gurus comment on the pending RfM on the article talk page: Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Does a RfM impact a pending DKY? In any event, you are right about the correct form of disambiguation parenthetical. I have no idea what the impact of the pending RfM may be on the DYK, but I expect someone from WP:DYK will answer that question one way or another. There's no pressing urgency to move the page today, and I suspect the RfM vs. DYK issue will resolve itself in the next 24 hours. Give it a little time. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:30, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm in no way hurried in getting it moved. I saw a stalemate between Nina and I being inevitable and opted to ask multiple other editors that I felt would be neutral in commenting on the situation (Oddly, most of them I've had conflicts with previously, but I felt confident enough of my position that I figured that would be moot. Turns out I was right.) to reduce as much tension from the discussion as possible. I feel Nina is taking this too personally, when it isn't about attacking the work that I'm sure she has devoted a lot of time to. I've tried to make that clear to her, but I fear deaf ears do not receive comforting words. Technical 13 (talk) 20:46, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Dariuses
No, I haven't seen that editor before, but I'm skeptical it's Darius Dhlomo returned. The account was asked whether they are a sock, and while they denied it, the response looks a bit fishy. Darius Dhlomo didn't edit swimming articles exclusively, he was interested in a number of sports, of which swimming is only one. Dariusvista seems specifically interested in Brazilian swimming, which doesn't fit at all, as Darius Dhlomo wrote articles about many nationalities. Dariusvista also regularly cites sources written in Portugese, which would be very unusual behaviour for Darius Dhlomo. Dariusvista evidently doesn't know how to move pages, whereas Darius Dhlomo certainly did. Dariusvista is evidently happy to talk to people, [1] which again is unusual behaviour for Darus Dhlomo. At the time of his indef block Darius Dhlomo only had about 30 user talk page edits and 6 article talk page edits in his entire 163,000 edit, 5 year career, and he responded to messages left on his talk page by blanking them. Hut 8.5 08:59, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response and analysis, Hut. I've been involved with tracking and investigating several serial puppet masters, and there seemed to be enough superficial similarities between the two to inquire of you, the primary administrator who has been responsible for cleaning up after Darius Dhlomo for the last years. Based on your response, it sounds as if those similarities are indeed superficial, and not likely to connect the two accounts as the same person. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 09:33, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- I certainly wouldn't call myself the main person who's been cleaning up after Darius - a number of others have put in considerably more effort than I have. I don't blame you for suspecting sockpuppetry here, given the shared name and interests. Hut 8.5 14:53, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- Modesty serves you well, sir, and your continuing efforts in the Darius Dhlomo copyright clean-up are recognized and appreciated -- regardless of whether you are the "main man." I have several of the Brazilian swimmers on one of my watchlists, so I can check in on the new Darius account's edits from time to time. Probably nothing to worry about other than the usual unsourced BLP problems. LOL Regards, Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 15:15, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Vital Articles now at AN.
As I have mentioned you at AN regarding an issue you are involved with, I am notifying you here. Regards, Only in death does duty end (talk) 09:33, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the head's up, Only in death. I had already found the discussion from the changes Betty had reverted to the Vital Articles project page introduction. I am preparing a response for the new AN discussion. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 09:44, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
- Feel free to correct my summary there if its incorrect. I had a read through that RFC and I get what Betty is aiming at, but I dont think its workable or realistic given the scope of vital articles. Only in death does duty end (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 09:56, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
- I think your succinct summary does a nice job of encapsulating the issues, OID. I'm working on an AN response to provide the details. At the heart of this teapot tempest is Betty's (mis)interpretation of the BRD cycle, which in her understanding is apparently the B_D cycle. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 10:06, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

College HOF
FYI, I mentioned one of your arguments at User_talk:BrownHairedGirl#Potential_DRV. Nothing incriminating AFAIK.—Bagumba (talk) 21:44, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

I left him a note. It's too early to do anything too drastic, but if he doesn't get the hint, let me know. Zagalejo^^^ 02:55, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Interim Coaches
Interim coaches should not be included in the navigation boxes. They are not the official head coach. They are not under contract. I would like to see this changed. Interims should get credit for the games they coach, but they shouldn't be included with the official head coaches. Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.198.133.191 (talk) 02:57, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for raising this issue on my talk page, but I am just one of dozens of regular participants in WP:CFB, a group of Wikipedia editors who work collaboratively on college football articles. The best place to start this discussion is on WP:CFB's project talk page at WT:CFB. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:00, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Lists of international goals
Hi, the last one I can remember was back in March 2013 - overall gist of that and the other discussions were that they tend to violate WP:NOTSTATS. The ones I removed today which were incredibly busy and only listed World Cup / Olympic goals - so basically they were over-complicated but incomplete! GiantSnowman 19:47, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you, sir. I really think these tables are the epitome of stats trivia. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 19:50, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Someone has taken excception to my boldness - new discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Tables of international goals. GiantSnowman 11:54, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 30
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ezekiel Ansah, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page BYU Cougars basketball (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
