Florida Gators baseball

R96, if we do calculate the baseball records in the same manner that we do for football and basketball, the yearly baseball win-loss records should include postseason games. Following the same precedents, however, the conference records should not include games from the conference tournaments. It probably bears checking that every season's record is calculated in the same manner—the best source is the current Florida baseball media supplement. Check the external links section of the "List of University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame members" for a direct link to the 2012 supplement. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 15:07, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Lede

Jeffrey, "lede," "lead" and "lead section" mean the same thing. "Lede" is journalism jargon; I probably should stop using it. It just confuses WP editors who are unfamiliar with it. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:44, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Year-by-year results tables

This section and this article both contain a year-by-year records table, however the latter contains more information such as championships and tournament appearances. Do you think the table from the Gators Baseball seasons article should by copied into the year-by-year section of the Gators baseball article for consistency's sake? I know. I don't know what to do about it. It probably didn't make a lot of sense to split the year-by-year records out as a separate article in the first place, but there was an editor who was determined to generate such list articles for all 120+ FBS programs. Now, we have the separate lists and no one maintains them because no one knows they exist. R, if you a have a suggestion how we should deal with this, I'm all ears. A possibility would be to simply link to the separate article like what is done at Rice Owls baseball#Year-by-Year Results. Or the article could just be deleted since it is redundant information. ~ Richmond96 t • c 03:30, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Personally, I'm not enamored of the format of the stand-alone list. Let's give it some serious thought: what information should be included, how it should be presented, how it should be formatted, what graphics should be used. We really need a global solution for all of the Gators team articles, not just baseball and football. Take a look at the women's tennis article and those for the other teams, and put your thinking cap on . . . Walter J. Zable

In a small world type of coincidence, I created a bio last night of a person who holds degrees from both my alma mater and yours. I know that he only received his master's degree in physics and mathematics from Florida (class of ~1939 I would estimate), but if there are any sources in your UF archives that mention anything about Walter J. RFA?

You do some amazing work relating to sports/University of Florida articles, and you clearly have the experience and the need for some extra help. Are you interested in a WP:RFA? Our interactions is a bit limited than most of the other active American sports editors you deal with mainly because I rarely have any time to participate in those sports notability discussions (which I should considering that I helped write it back in 2007) and I agree with most of your viewpoints so I rarely feel the need to discuss. We do need more administrators that specializes in sports topics as we it's usually a BLP nightmare, and I do have a great track record of nominating candidates since 2005.
