College bball template moves

Wanted to remind you that when you move a template, as I've noticed you've been doing to college basketball ones, you need to edit the template itself so that the "| name = " field gets changed to match the exact format of the template's new title. Otherwise, when you click the "e" for edit, you won't be able to because it won't recognize the template you're trying to change. Jrcla2 (talk) 06:14, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Basketball coach templates

I noticed you changed the name on the Georgia Tech coach box. Why would we not name ALL men's coaching navboxes with "men's" in the title - even if a women's box does not exist? Seems like this way we do create one naming convention (as opposed to one for schools who have both men's and women's templates and one for those who don't) and we reduce future maintenence as women's templates are created. Just trying to think ahead. This is another consideration that football doesn't have to worry about. Thanks for the help by the way. Rikster2 (talk) 14:32, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Rikster, it's a judgment call. The template names are getting rather long, especially for those that have multiple words for the school names ("Georgia Tech") and multiple words for the mascot ("Yellow Jackets"). My thought process, and it's certainly nothing set in stone, is that we can forego the "men's" for the men's templates and simply insert "women's" in the women's templates. It's been a pleasure working on the Andrew Sledd article; it was a very good article before I looked at it, and the work you've done has really improved it. When you're through with it I'd be glad to give it another once-over before you nominate it for FAC, if you like. As for Tigert, I'd like to help, but I have a bit of a backlog of other things. I promised History of Sesame Street a follow up review after it failed FAC, and I am also trying to work on Bede and trying to get Planet Stories in shape, plus I have an article at FAC right now. On top of that, when I nominate at FAC I try to review three other FACs, since it helps keep the size of the queue down. So no promises, but I'll put it on my watchlist, and see if some time opens up. But I suspect you don't need all that much help, judging by what I've been watching you do at Andrew Sledd. ndash coding Florida Gators

Hi,

I made those edits in light of the WikiProject Check Wikipedia to fix the level of the headlines. From a third level headline (==== Headline ====) to a two level headline (=== Headline ===). However, when making such edits, I frequently use AutoEd. This script automatically replaces the ndash coding. It is no problem if you rollback the ndash, as long as you keep these new headlines. So, revert my edits, but keep in mind to include the headline changes when making further adjustments.

Dirtlawyer1, you might be interested in WP:WIKED, which you can enable and disable in your preferences tab. It makes the difference between en dashes, em dashes and hyphens visible by placing a little "m" or "n" above the dash in the edit window as appropriate. I still prefer the HTML entities myself, but wikEd can be useful when you're editing an article created by someone else that uses Unicode dashes, so you might want to take a look.
