Hi, thanks for pointing out my error in this article. I was following the link shown on 304 Olga on the page, Meanings_of_minor_planet_names:_1–1000#304 and what was written in the related ref. So I guess these should also be addressed.--Golan's mom (talk) 18:41, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Konrad Adenauer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Monnet. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Carl Friedrich Gauss

[edit]

Hey Dioskorides!

During the last months, I noticed your blessed work on the article Carl Friedrich Gauss in english wikipedia. You did great job in organizing, expanding and deepening this article, as well as basing the information presented in it on reliable sources.

I just wanted to inform you that over the last 5 years, I too put a lot of efforts in writing a comprehensive article on Gauss in the hebrew wikipedia, which I believe to be currently one of the most comprehensive wiki articles on him (among all languages). So I thought this article might be of some help for you in writing the english wiki article on Gauss. Obviously the english article, as the article in the largest and most read wikipedia, should be written much more eloquently than what I wrote in the hebrew wikipedia, but I still believe you might benefit a lot by simply making google translation from hebrew to english on what I wrote and tha see how you can use this information in writing the english article.

It will be of great satisfaction for me to see my project on Gauss in the hebrew wikipedia finds its way in some form into the english wikipedia, and I will be even more delighted to read it in a more streamlined form (since you are german-speaking I believe you can use the original sources much more efficiently than I am). עשו (talk) 10:18, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@עשו:
Hello עשו, (I don't know, how to spell your name)
I am very pleased to see that somebody else takes notice of this article. I am at work since 4th of March, when I noticed that the article presents some maths, but nearly nothing about geodesy and geophysics. So I have enlarged mainly these chapters, and did only very few on the mathematics, because in English WP, there are a lot of special articles on it (see List of things named after Carl Friedrich Gauss), where the details can be described much better. And I think the anecdotes should not dominate the most prominent place of the biographical part of the article.
I will finish my work in a few days, the article should not grow too much. Perhaps it will be possible to review him as a Good article, as it had been some years ago.
I regret that I am not able to read the Hebrew text, and Google translate is not very comfortable, it is working only with very short pieces of the text. But I see from the footnotes that some of my ideas have entered the text previously, I take this as a good confirmation. I have discovered that there is a special lemma on the "Theoria motus ..." (or similar) in Hebrew WP. It would be fine, if we had it similar in English language.

Undefined reference in Carl Friedrich Gauss

[edit]

HI, in this edit you introduced {{harvnb|Klein|1894|p=101}} but there is no such work defined. This makes the reference impossible to look up, and places the article in Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors, If you could fix this that would be great. @DuncanHill:Thank you for your attention. I've corrected it. --Dioskorides (talk) 09:43, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for creating Karl Felix Seyffer; it's more comprehensive than the German article! Klbrain (talk) 11:17, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, thanks for the coffee, I've just found it while I'm drinking it :) And it gave occasion to correct a slight date error in the article. Greetings Dioskorides (talk) 11:28, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Neumann

[edit]

Neumann is categorized as a minerologist. Minerologist are categorized as a sub-category of geologists. So I believe he fits into the guidelines for Geologists from the Kingdom of Prussia. For the time being I have added him to scientists from the Kingdom of Prussia.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:00, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Carl Friedrich Gauss

[edit]

On 2 August 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Carl Friedrich Gauss, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Carl Friedrich Gauss. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Carl Friedrich Gauss), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Today I have two "musicians" on the Main page, one is also the topic of my story, watch and listen! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:19, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for information. I think Meneses is the other one. Your collection looks like a highlight collection of musicopedia. Dioskorides (talk) 15:48, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you ;) - ... and a third, like 22 July but with interview and the music to be played today - Meneses will come tomorrow --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:20, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. It's nice to have not only a recent death, but also this "birthday" on the Main page. And a rainbow in my places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:38, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
