Re: Regarding the Black Widow movie

[edit]

First let me say thank you for engaging in discussion rather than edit warring. We can accomplish so much more by working together.

Please let me explain my position. Kevin Feige stated in the article you cited that "We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts". Discussing the idea of a potential film is far from an announcement and even farther from actually being developed. So while it might be fine information to include the future section, it does not belong in the film section.

The other articles you post on my talk page source back to two articles one from Movieline and one from Ace Showbiz (currently blacklisted), so I will be quoting from them from here on out. When asked about a spinoff Black Widow film, Feige responded:

Well, I think you saw it in Avengers. I think that’s one of the many amazing things Joss Whedon can do. I think people are going to be surprised by how powerful Scarlett is in this movie, and how evolved her role is. We have already planned her next appearances and where to take that character because we believe in it and we believe in her in a big, big way. When will there be a standalone? Both is what we’re heading toward. A lot of it is that we’re only going to make two movies a year, maybe sometimes it’ll be one movie a year like this year, maybe someday it’ll be three movies a year just depending on what comes together. But really, it’s two movies. So there’s kind of a backup on the runway right now in terms of when can something go. We do like when some of the characters appear in other people’s movies.

So hes basically saying that The Avengers was the most we're going to see from Black Widow but left the window open for a potential film down the line when they are able to produce more than two movies a year. Again this is hardly an announcement.

I love her origin story. I think it's just such a riveting one... It's just steeped in history and the richness to shoot in Russia, perhaps... I hope that the fans' voice is loud enough and they want to see a Widow origin story, I know Marvel would be happy to entertain that. We've spoken a lot about it.

Here Johansson talks about the love of Black Widow's origin and sats that a solo-film rests on fan support which suggests that it has not yet been confirmed. I hope this helps clears matters up.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 18:44, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for repling and for clearing things up. I still think that Feige was kinda implying that a Black Widow will most likely happen in the future since he's clearly saying that they have already planned her story arc and just need to finish the current movies in production to get started with this one. I understand that it's not very clear but still I see it as one in my book. Then again if this is not considered an announcement shouldn't the last section here be deleted?

It just needs to be amended, the current wording I agree is a bit disingenuous.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 20:45, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
