February 2018[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page STURP has been reverted.
Your edit here to STURP was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCln1bf_9wGgNB1ZEkSsUoGA) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rapid Germination requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article does not exist or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, DigiDaan. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:STURP, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID). Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 19:16, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cabayi, What do I have to do? I'm just creating a page for a band that has released 2 full-length albums and is featured (amongst others) on iTunes and Spotify. I'm not aware that I'm doing something wrong. How can I get the content approved? Excuse me for being so ignorant, I'm just a beginner trying to add a contribution. Thanks in advance! DigiDaan (talk) 22:52, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. It records peoples, places, and things which are already notable. It isn't an advertising platform to make them notable. I didn't see anything to suggest that STURP meet the criteria in Wikipedia:Notability (music). Any claim of notability needs to be supported by reliable, independent, verifiable sources.
If you are the Daan in Godworst then the conflict of interest notice applies to that article too. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 09:15, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cabayi, Thanks for the quick response! OK, so I understand that STURP needs to be more importance. Hopefully in the near future a page can be added. :-) I am the Daan in the band Godworst indeed. As Godworst does no longer exist, it will not get of any more importance unfortunately. Is it the limited importance that a page for Godworst does not have a chance or the fact that I was a member of the band the problem? Thanks for the help, I'm just learning to grasp the Wikipedia do's and don'ts. DigiDaan (talk) 17:22, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Godworst doesn't appear notable to me. It has the same requirements for reliable, independent, verifiable sources. It's been a common experience on Wikipedia that people with a conflict of interest are often incapable of a detached neutrality when it comes to writing about their topics of interest. So, to answer your question, both. Cabayi (talk) 18:48, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
