A tag has been placed on User:Dick Clark Architecture, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:User:Dick Clark Architecture|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you.    SIS  16:27, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NOTE: Please do not delete our page. We are an Architecture Firm and would like to show the contributions we have made to our local community in Austin over the course of our thirty year history. We are new at Wikipedia and are trying to learn the requirements for submission but looking at other Architecture Firms in the Category, it seems that we meet this requirement. We will be updating our text to make sure it tells our history and philosophy as it has contributed to the atmosphere of the city of Austin. Please allow it. Thank You!
I'm not doubting your good intentions but please read WP:COI, WP:SPAM, and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business. That will explain quite detailed why I tagged your original page and also mentions some other things people might find objectionable (like the conflict of interest). Kind regards,    SIS  20:55, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Under normal circumstances, your account can be blocked as a "spam only" account. However, a quick Google search turns up quite a number of hits on your organization. If you wish, I'll create a brief article. You certainly do seem to be notable. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 16:51, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Triwbe (talk) 16:52, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - Thanks for your help pmdrive 1061 - I think my problem is being new to wikipedia and not knowing how to set it up correctly. I would appreciate help with a brief article. Then I can study up how to make the article more appropriate. i guess my user name is not good either - trying to figure it all out- Thanks for any tips! Dick Clark Architecture (talk) 16:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I have in fact created a brief article at Dick Clark Architecture. If you wish, I can unblock the account so that you may choose a new username. It's a pleasure to have you aboard; sorry about the less-than-warm welcome. It's just that we get a lot of real spammers here. I'll drop word on your e-mail as well. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 17:14, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great - I will just drop the architecture from our user name and use the principals name for the username. I will just need to research how to do this! thanks for your help!Dick Clark Architecture (talk) 17:43, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

User:Dick Clark is available. However we also need to hear from you that you read and agree with our rules on conflicts of interest; whether or not an article on your firm is ultimately appropriate, you still must not act to compromise Wikipedia's independence by creating such an article, or by editing it in potentially controversial ways. After reading that policy, if you agree, post a new unblock request. Mangojuicetalk 19:17, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|I would like to request that my user name Dick Clark Architecture be changed to Dick Clark and unblocked. It is in our interest to create and article that provides information on the firm as it has related to the city of Austin and the field of Architecture. We have read the conflicts of interest article and we agree to not act in ways to comprimise wikipedia's independence as an encyclopedic reference resource. Our errors have been brought by ignorance regarding how to create our username and how to organize our user profile page. I apologize for the errors and hope to rectify them if I am unblocked. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information at this time.Dick Clark Architecture (talk) 20:22, 19 February 2009 (UTC)}}[reply]

I don't think you are blocked. Try and see if you can edit WP:CHU. If you can, you may file a request to change your name there. If you are still blocked, try following the instructions on the block screen under the section labelled "autoblocked?" J.delanoygabsadds 20:25, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused - sorry to be such a problem, if anyone could offer a suggestion I would appreciate it: I think I changed my user name - or at least I was able to edit a page with the new user I requested user:dick clark, but it still made me log in with my old user name: dick clark architecture and it says dick clark architecture at the top of the page, and when I sign comments it says the old name? Also if I type in Dick Clark Architecture wikipedia it takes me to the deleted user name of Dick Clark Architecture so I put a re-direct on that page to my new user name. Is this something I should be doing or does it correct itself after time? I also used to be able to upload images but am unable to now - have I been disallowed for some reason? I appreciate any help. I am trying to be more self sufficient at this. Dick Clark Architecture (talk) 23:42, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict prob

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Dick Clark Architecture, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Triwbe (talk) 14:57, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Triwbe - Is there something specific that you feel has violated the COI policy? Please let me know so I can fix it - or if you think I should just stop editing I can do that too. I think my biggest problem is not choosing a good user name. I am new to wikipedia and am making numerous mistakes, but I would like to continue - I think this is a very useful tool for students and I truly do appreciate the help! quite honestly I am glad there has been such scrutiny it keeps it clear.
