Your new template parameter seemed to work
[edit]I tried using WP:Sandbox to test it with a template containing
Infobox economy | continent = Erewhon | population = 73 | gdp = $500 | per capita = $.01 | growth = -10% | millionaires = 1 | top ten percent income = $1000 | risk of poverty = 72
(with curly brackets around it) and it appeared to work:
Statistics | |
---|---|
Population | 73 |
GDP | $500 |
GDP growth | -10% |
GDP per capita | $.01 |
Millionaires (US$) | 1 |
Population at risk of poverty | 72 |
All values, unless otherwise stated, are in US dollars. |
Did you test it and, if so, what was the problem you saw? Guy Harris (talk) 17:33, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
- Hello Guy Harris!
- Well, I asked this question in the Teahouse as well & someone helped me identify the problem. What I did was only modify the source code & expected the automatically-generated (visual) Template to change - displaying the new field.
- However, apparently it's not that easy: "Optional parameters are omitted from display if they aren't present in a call, so the template documentation uses a special method 'Generic template demo' to display them, but it requires the parameter names."
- So, I had to actually add a 'call' for this new field/parameter in the 'Usage' section -- which I had assumed was just for documentation...
- Anyway, I tried that & now it displays properly -- I can use it in the Wiki articles I want to edit. :) Thank you! (thumbs up) Dhyana b (talk) 14:20, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, optional parameters aren't displayed if no value is given; there are a lot of parameters in many templates, and not all of them may even apply to a given topic, so optional ones are only displayed if specified. Guy Harris (talk) 18:50, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- No, I meant on the Template page: Template:Infobox economy -- The value didn't show on the visual template, after I modified the code. So I thought it didn't work.. Dhyana b (talk) 22:23, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Economy of Moldova. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. Styx (talk) 06:07, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for bringing this to my attention! I believe the issue is now fixed: Economy of Moldova. I did not remove the copyright tag however, because I am not sure. Perhaps someone can verify, thank you! -- Dhyana b (talk) 14:27, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

February 2023
[edit]This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, as you did at User talk:Rosenborg BK Fan, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. This is regarding your comment "Poti te muti in alta parte, sa-ti iei alta cetatenie daca nu-ti convin concetatenii prezenti, sau sa-l saruti pe Orban din partea mea," which means "You can move somewhere else, take another citizenship if you don't like your fellow citizens present, or kiss Orban for me." That's blatantly racist and it's a violation of this site's policy regarding personal attacks. CityOfSilver 22:13, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- @CityOfSilver: Excuse me? I absolutely contest this, please remove it from my page. That Rosenberg user literally said that half of Romania is beneath him and his specific region (here) -- literally other-ing the people there (in the South of the country), me, as sub-citizens/ backwards citizens that will never be of European level -- and I told him to stop, that it's not true & he can move to another place if he doesn't like his fellow citizens. Wholeheartedly
- I stand by that statement, you don't get to humiliate half the citizens of the country you live in, instead of just moving out if you have such a disgust for them. And then this individual replies to me with -- "If you have the nerve to strike a conversation / get attention from me on my page, like a thick-skined jerk (woman) you are (ro. nesimțită ce ești), at least tell me, you pathetic/lame person/woman (ro. penibilo), which region you're from and make your own public profile on Wikipedia, because intelligence is booming inside you, man, fantastic, never seen anything like it. Otherwise you seem very big-mouthed, big patriot you are, but you're clearly messing with the wrong person..." -- among other things.
- What does this have to do with him supporting Hungary, or Hungary being the reason I'm upset? I told him to kiss Orban, bc Viktor Orban is as big of a xenophobic/racist as this user, in my opinion -- as he's proven last year (in his speeches, if you're not familiar), when he visited precisely Rosenberg's region in Romania (and prob the reason why ppl like Rosenberg have increased in numbers). So why exactly would you have banned me? How did I say anything racist if I told him to go pair-up with a political figure?
- Please pay attention to what is going on in this thread better, no offense. And stop being manipulated by every xenophobic racist that tries to spin what they're being accused of, on the victim or those signaling the problem. I want to know what I need to do to contest this warning. Dhyana b (talk) 23:50, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- I suggest that you take a step back and try to understand why what you wrote in that last sentence can be considered a breach of civility. You could have just as easily made your point without it. Does this justify the respondent's escalated and egregiously uncivil comments to you in response? Absolutely not, and that has been handled. As such, it is probably best to drop the stick and going back to editing constructively. Per WP:BLANKING, you may remove this warning template and subsequent thread if you so choose. --Kinu t/c 00:23, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, I apologise for being rude in my last paragraph. I accept that, it was too aggressive. But I absolutely cannot accept the justification for which I have gotten a warning, hence the irritation.
- And I don't understand exactly what you mean, bc @CityOfSilver said it's an only warning - meaning next time I'll get blocked? When I say I want it removed from my page, I mean from my user records if there's such a thing. Bc it feels like a very superficial & inappropriate decision, when I was actually quite restrained in my interactions. Dhyana b (talk) 00:38, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

- Dhyana, I think you might have me mixed up with someone else because you're explaining that Rosenborg is racist and it makes no sense that you're telling me that. On their talk page, I stated they went on a "racist rampage." My exact words: "racist rampage." That's me plainly stating that this person is a racist so who is your explanation for?
- The most important thing here is: you may not personally attack anyone else for any reason. Read our policy forbidding personal attacks. If someone insults you, they have broken that policy and they could get blocked. If you insult them back, you broke the same policy and you could get blocked. It doesn't matter that Rosenborg went absolutely wild and baited you into insulting them. You broke the policy because it doesn't allow you to personally insult anyone for any reason. Rosenborg violated it to a far, far worse degree than you and accordingly, they're blocked while you're not.
- "...he can move to another place if he doesn't like his fellow citizens..." It's absolutely racist to suggest someone move out of your country, even if that person is themself being blatantly racist. I do not accept that I need to explain that to you.
- "...I told him to kiss Orban, bc..." Doesn't matter why you did it. Rosenborg is almost certainly a man so you telling him to kiss another man was a blatantly homophobic attack and it's practically impossible that you truly don't know this.
- "why exactly would you have banned me" I wouldn't have! I'm not an administrator.
- My warning is meant to get you to stop committing violations of the no personal attacks policy. You're allowed to remove it right now! But I'm not going to because it's me trying to keep you from getting blocked. CityOfSilver 00:45, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Silver, what are you talking about?! How is it racist to tell someone: "You don't like it, you're free to leave..." -- what does race have anything to do with anything here? I don't even know what race, ethnicity, gender or orientation they are -- it is a general statement, that if you don't like something, you are free to go anywhere you like. Instead of insulting everybody there. It applies to everybody.
- And why would it be homophobic, for him to kiss another man?! Are you saying that's an insult? What are we even talking about, "kiss X for me" is an expression in English, it means to greet someone/send regards -- it has nothing to do with sex, I was being ironic. This is why I say your decision feels completely insane to me. I did not insult Rosenberg, I criticized his position & stance, pointing out that it's his issue not the rest's & who he sounds like. Dhyana b (talk) 00:57, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter if I remove it! Bc it's still stuck in my history & I'm going to get banned next time I signal a problem to the Administration. Then what exactly are you? Can I also leave warnings to people? Dhyana b (talk) 01:04, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- You're definitely allowed to warn people if you think it's the right thing to do. You can leave me a warning if you notice rulebreaking or bad behavior on my part. But if you honestly don't believe you did anything wrong even though I've explicitly explained in detail how certain comments of yours violate the WP:NPA policy, then really there's nothing else for me to add here. CityOfSilver 02:19, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info, I will def remember it. As for my comments, I did not say anything racist or homophobic - not in the slightest - and you had no right to to do this. What you claimed is a complete strawman, and I suggest you review the way you think. Dhyana b (talk) 17:15, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

- I wasn't referring to the last sentence in your comment above as being uncivil. I was referring to the last sentence you wrote to Rosenborg BK Fan, as noted in the original warning. --Kinu t/c 00:51, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well I disagree, I'm sorry. And I think you're just having each other's backs here. It it very biased & unfair. Dhyana b (talk) 00:58, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- My reason for agreeing with CityOfSilver's determination that your comment was a violation of WP:NPA is because, well, it was a violation of WP:NPA. As for your concern above about being blocked, I'll say this: don't violate WP:NPA again and you won't be blocked. At this point, you're the only one drawing any attention to this. Drop the stick, delete this section from your talk page if you want, and move on. --Kinu t/c 01:12, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- I did not violate NPA the first time :) I'll drop the stick but this is unfair. Dhyana b (talk) 01:18, 12 February 2023 (UTC)

A message of apology
[edit]I want to sincerely apologise for the negative comments (which were also partly misunderstood, from my point of view) by me earlier this year on my personal talk page. I wish you all the best here and happy editing without any conflicts of any nature with any other users. Take care and stay safe! Plenty of success with your edits! Rosenborg BK Fan (talk) 10:18, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you Rosenborg BK Fan (talk), much appreciated! I have already forgotten about the spat, best of luck to you also :) Dhyana b (talk) 13:30, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
- I am very glad! Best of luck and many blessings to you! Also, please let me tell you that I strive to contribute as much good content on Romania (and in general), here on Wikipedia. That was a very bad edit info on my behalf. I wish you all the best once again and plenty of success here on Wikipedia and beyond! Rosenborg BK Fan (talk) 17:06, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
question
[edit]In your edits to the Economy of Romania page I noticed you use the "At risk of poverty" metric, even added an infobox parameter for it. Why do you prefer the "At risk of poverty rate" metric instead of the "At risk of poverty or social exclusion" one? KREOH (talk) 02:53, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- KREOH (talk) I just selected one of the straightforward tables, with a clear parameter, that also showed percentages. The Eurostat database is very complex & quite confusing. Dhyana b (talk) 03:31, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, it can be a puzzle. You just have to get used to the institution's lingo for the parameters and it gets easier.
- The "At risk of poverty rate" is a basic income threshold. (see more here link) It does not take into account wealth, only income. So it will include people who have a BMW in front of their communist-era apartment (which they own, and maybe other residences) and thousands in the bank but rely on their family for shared income and thus avoid working.
- Whereas the "At risk of poverty or social exclusion" ("AROPE" for short) is the main one and goes more in-depth and includes material deprivation and low work (see details here link and here link. KREOH (talk) 15:49, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Headline "FDI Stock" to just "FDI"
[edit]Hi everyone, I hope you are doing well. I was wondering how to change the headline of the "FDI Stock" in the infobox economy template and I could not change it. The data related to this item, actually is a flow, not a stock. So this could be misleading people when they observe the data from Brazil (for example - "Economy of Brazil - Wikipedia"). Reference: Sixth Edition of the IMF's Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual (BPM6). My suggestion would be to change the headline name from "FDI Stock" to just "FDI". Could anyone help me to make this change? Thank you very much for your attention. Best regards, Felipe Correa Felipelcorrea (talk) 01:53, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
Romania
[edit]Hi, I have a small question to you. Based on edits to the Romania article and activity on its talk page, do you think that FeldmarschallGneisenau and HetmanWL could be the same person? I've opened a sockpuppet investigation some time ago at 1, but it appears my evidence wasn't enough to convince the SPI clerk. NicolausPrime (talk) 22:18, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
- @NicolausPrime Interesting... I haven't noticed a connection because I see HetmanWL was blocked a while ago, and the discussions on the Romania Talk page were way too long to follow closely. But I see HetmanWL is already suspected of being a sockpuppet of another sockpuppet, of another account... I don't feel there's a reliable way for me to assess this, however I do notice FeldmarschallGneisenau got activated recently, on Feb 8th 2024, less than a month after HetmanWL got blocked for the last time. (why is s/he able to edit semi-protected pages already?)
- In short, I have no idea, but good observation. Dhyana b (talk) 14:18, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
