BCFC reserves

[edit]

Hi, You may be right that the reserves section ought to contain every player having played for them, though I'm not sure how helpful it is including a long list of first-teamers. However, as it stands at the moment, you've changed the wording to "As of April", but left in the reference to a December match programme which gives the players as of then, and left in the wording which says that only first-team players without a first-team appearance are listed. I'll comment out the offending bits and leave it for a day or two, to give you chance to add an up-to-date reliable source for your players list, and make sure it's accurate. For instance, you've left out Ashley Sammons, who's played several times for the resses this season, and there are others. Without an up-to-date reliable source it'll have to go back to the December version, though in a couple of weeks the reserve season will be over and hopefully the Liverpool match programme will give a complete list of appearances for both reserves and under-18s. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:53, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This report from Blues website has Sammons playing against Spurs at home, this one shows Sammons, Rutter, Hubbins and Newbury playing against Villa away, and this one has Sammons and Rutter in the Senior Cup final. You haven't included any of these players.
The problem is that two of the fundamental principles of Wikipedia are "no original research" and "verifiability". There's no problem with getting appearances from match reports published in reliable sources, but they do have do be verifiable, which "means that readers should be able to check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source." If each player's name was individually referenced to a published match report, that'd be verifiable as proving he'd played, but it would also be a total pain in the backside, which is why I went with making it accurate as at the end of December sourced to the first-team match programme. Perhaps next season, up-to-date appearance info would be more appropriately kept in a BCFC season 2008-09 article, if anyone does one? then statements like Mutch having played more than anyone wouldn't look like original research. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:16, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
