Ann E. Harrison article

[edit]

Hello, thanks for writing this article! I’ve just read it and I’m a bit concerned that it has no citations. That worries me since without proof that this person is notable, meaning covered enough in media to write a fair article on them, the article will be deleted. Just to explain, biographies of living people are very strictly treated on Wikipedia in order to ensure fair coverage of people who are alive: you should demonstrate that every single fact in the article is true by citing it to a specific source, and biography articles with no citations are always deleted unless improved.

Are there any reliable sources you can add? If so just edit the article and add citations using the cite tool, or if you have any thoughts or questions just let me know. Blythwood (talk) 19:18, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Ann E. Harrison has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ann E. Harrison requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://haas.berkeley.edu/about/at-a-glance/leadership/dean-ann-harrison/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 2601:188:180:1481:80EE:488:E373:EEC3 (talk) 20:25, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Dgoldentyer. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 2601:188:180:1481:80EE:488:E373:EEC3 (talk) 20:27, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear. I should emphasise that you have already agreed that you will disclose any conflicts of interest you have, for instance if you are employed by or associated with the Haas School of Business, under section 4 of the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use. Both your organisation, and you personally, could face legal liabilities for failing to comply with this. Make no further edits to Wikipedia until you have filed a disclosure or responded in some other way; you may also find it helpful to seek legal advice to understand your position.
I realise it may be confusing having to cope with Wikipedia's many requirements for paid editors, and it is frustrating having your edits immediately erased. You may find it more fruitful to request edits to get input from other stakeholders, rather than making edits directly, and if you wish to post an article filing it as a draft and then running it through the articles for creation project. Once again, it is a condition of editing Wikipedia that if you are editing on the topic of your employer you must (on a per page-basis, i.e. not just once four years ago, for every edit you make), "provide one of the following:
  • a statement on your user page,
  • a statement on the talk page accompanying any paid contributions, or
  • a statement in the edit summary accompanying any paid contributions."
This is a direct quote from the Wikimedia Foundation terms of service. Blythwood (talk) 20:51, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
