File permission problem with File:Grassland-Hills-of-Emporia-Kansas.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Grassland-Hills-of-Emporia-Kansas.jpg, which you've attributed to www.endurancelab.fit. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:19, 23 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry - this is all very complicated. I took this picture with my own camera. I own the picture and would like to share it on wikipedia for everyone to use freely. I've also posted this picture on a website referenced in the image - www.endurancelab.fit. Not sure how that is relevant. I own the picture because I took it myself on my camera. How do you recommend that I "make note permitting reuse". Further, the licensing information on the image page itself is accurate.

I added the the following text: "All the images on this page are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License." at the bottom of this page where I originally posted and shared the images - https://www.360velo.com/dirty-kanza-200-the-ultimate-guide/ I assume this meets the requirement outlined above.

Please stop with endurancelab.fit

If you haven't cottoned-on yet these edits here and at Commons have been considered spam. Probably time to stop adding them. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:25, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe we should also talk about conflict of interest for when a member of your family works at the same organisation. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:29, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop harassing me. I'm trying to add legitimate content to articles like https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Dirty_Kanza where I am an authority. Maybe you should reconsider your idea of spam. Someone who is highly educated, trains 15,000 miles a year on the bike and places 2nd in their age group should be able to improve this article as an authority. Whether the content comes from me or references to articles that I have written that I consider authority articles. The article I wrote about Kanza here https://www.360velo.com/dirty-kanza-200-the-ultimate-guide/ should be a part of the Wikipedia article. I understand Wikipedia is not a collection of spam links, but someone with my experience and demonstrated results in endurance sports should be able to improve the Kanza article, even if it references external nofollow links (with NO SEO benefit) to a domain that I'm related to so long as the content is informative and beneficial to the community.
I'm trying to slowly figure out how to comply with the wikipedia rules while improving content. So Bill, I'm sorry you feel like these images are spam https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Dirty_Kanza#/media/File:Grassland_Hills_of_Emporia_Kansas.jpg and https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Dirty_Kanza#/media/File:Dirty-Kanza-Theater-Find-Your-Limit.jpg. But to others who actually know about Dirty Kanza and care will find it useful. Isn't that the point of Wikipedia? So maybe someone with experience in endurance sports should review my work. --Dfriestedt (talk) 11:10, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Bojo1498. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Dirty Kanza seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. bojo | talk 18:12, 25 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bojo1498: For the life of me I cannot understand Wikipedia. What is wrong with an external link to Youtube of a video related to Dirty Kanza on the Dirty Kanza wikipedia page? This is a video of me racing this race and it's one of the most viewed videos on youtube on the topic. How is that not a relevant external link? This article sucks and incomplete and needs to be improved but I'm afraid to spend the time to improve it because anything I touch gets reversed by people who don't know anything about Dirty Kanza.

Hello Wikipedia police. I added back a link to an external video that is related to Dirty Kanza. Before you remove this link (again), can you please tell me why a link to a video about Dirty Kanza is not relevant? As an "expert" in Dirty Kanza, I am likely much more qualified to determine relevant content for this article than the people removing content I add. Isn't this the point of Wikipedia. Experts improve the content? If you were getting ready to ride this event, athletes would like to see this video. But if you sit on the couch and don't ride a bike and don't know anything about DK, maybe this video is not so interesting. So please explain in your own words why you are removing the link to the video.
