October 2015[edit]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to United States presidential election, 2016. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Alexf(talk) 17:10, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note, but I don't think it is applicable in this case. Tz_database#Use_in_software_systems section contains a list of software systems which use tz database. The added link points to an open-source library PascalTZ [1] [2] (library exists since 2009) for Free Pascal compiler, it is an interface for working specifically with tz database. By the way, what's with the reference to United States presidential election, 2016? Is this a pun? Dezlov (talk) 17:44, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Tz database. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please explain how was updating the link of one of listed software systems was inappropriate? I have provided a reference to the author's site for clarification. Just to be clear, I am not affiliated to TZDB package. If you delete it as inappropriate, then what's the point of having the Use_in_software_systems section at all since this is just a collection of links to various packages? Yet, it is ok to have links to packages for Python, C++, JavaScript, etc - but not ok for Delphi and Free Pascal? Shouldn't they all be removed then? Nonsense, no matter how you look at it. In the absence of any further arguments and the presence of "Thats Okay" comment, I will re-add the removed content. Dezlov (talk) 15:22, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
