Highland Council page
[edit]Wow. Devite, much thanks for changing those results boxes, that's not an easy task! I c+p'd the 2008 article across so just left things 'as were' other than candidates. doktorb wordsdeeds 13:49, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, I just felt that the pages should all look like Aberdeenshire and Perth and Kinross as we will have data about counts. By the way do you post on the Vote UK Discussion Forum in the Scottish section? I posted there as Irishobserver. Would you have a look at the Moray page for 2012 local elections. It is not showing up on the main Scottish Local Elections, 2012 page for some reason despite being in the Politics of Moray. It doesn't seem to be linked in properly. Council election results
[edit]Hi - I see that you've changed the summary of results on the East Dunbartonshire Council election, 2012 article (and possibly others) to reflect the 2007 result, rather than the standings following by-elections. Could you explain the rationale for this - the media have generally reported the "overnight" change in seats, rather than the change since the last full election. I'm not saying you've done something wrong, just different, and we may need to explain any differences between the article and published results (by putting an explanation in the article) if we're using a different comparison process. An example might be:
This table uses the 2007 election as a baseline as this is the last full data set for comparison. Tables of election-night changes published elsewhere may differ if by-election results are included in the baseline.
Wikiwayman (talk) 11:37, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, in advance of the local elections I was updating the 2007 elections pages to ensure that all by-elections were recorded and, as best as possible, that all resignations from parties were noted also. However, I still feel that in comparing how a party(ies) have performed in an election compared to a previous one that the last comparable result should be used i.e 2007. The 2007 page of each council will (hopefully) accurately inform the reader of how the internal dynamics of that council changed between 2007 and 2012. I have been trying to have a consistent approach for the other councils I have done to date. That's the sole reason I edited the summary of results table you had written. I'm happy to debate this further with others. Devite (talk) 14:53, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- I think that the approach you've taken is probably the best one from a statistical point of view and also for consistency. My concern was more with fact-checkers who may compare the table in the article with this one at the BBC News website. Wikipedia has an undeserved popular reputation for not being accurate, while the BBC is undoubtedly reputable, so my suggestion was simply posed to explain the differences. All that would be required is to cut-and-paste the line into each article, but before I do that, I'm keen on getting consensus as you've put a lot of good work in and I don't necessarily know why everything is the way it is. Wikiwayman (talk) 09:06, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- My background is in statistics and so thats partly why I approached it in this fashion. I agree consistency is important but again feel free to broaden out the discussion to other other users if you want. I was surprised the BBC adopted that approached. In Ireland, for example, while people might defect to different parties between an election the last comparable result would be compared with the most recent one both at local and at national level. Devite (talk) 10:05, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- Can we agree to combine our thoughts - i.e., we'll use your statistical basis, but add my explanatory note? I'm happy to do the editing. Wikiwayman (talk) 11:00, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
- I would agree to that. Devite (talk) 11:13, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I'm Hashima20. Devite, thanks for creating Monaghan County Council election, 1999!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. It's a not bad article. It just needs references.

Just wanted to say well done for creating all the articles on local elections in Ireland. Number 57 23:32, 31 October 2014 (UTC) |
- I was also wondering whether you might want to consider creating templates for the county elections, rather than using the succession boxes (so, for example, having something like {{Bristol elections}} or {{Isle of Wight elections}}). This has the added benefit of highlighting the years for which articles are missing. Cheers, Number 57 23:35, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Your most recent articles...
[edit]I've been patrolling some of your recent articles and they look really good so I've nominated you for Autopatrolled status. The only point for improvement that sprang out at me was the lack of any projects on the articles' talk pages. Talk:Aberdeen City Council election, 2017 shows the two projects which seem appropriate. Regards, Cabayi (talk) 09:27, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
Autopatrolled granted
[edit]Hi Devite, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. On the 2014 South Dublin County Council election
[edit]Hi there, I see that you've been adding a lot to the 2014 South Dublin County Council election article (looks like very good work). But I found the system you were using to mark changes since the last election with those crosses to be very convoluted and hard to follow. So I went ahead and changed the crosses into a proper note system (you just have to put your note inside a double brackets with the code "efn" (Template:Efn), like this {{efn|NOTE TEXT HERE}}, then you create a "Notes" section at the bottom with {{notelist}}). In future you should probably try to use a system like that. Anyway, the only other issue with the article now is that I don't know what the asterisks mean, which are next to some people's names. What does this imply? It needs to be explained somewhere (either in the text or in a note). Thanks. Hibernian (talk) 17:35, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
