So far, I have addressed several issues with the integrated circuit packaging page. The page had initially only covered a brief history of packaging approaches over the past few decades, prompting me to re-title that section as the history, after adjusting phrasing and tone for flow and better adhesion to Wikipedia's expectations. I also chose to remove a fairly messy and unhelpful image, and instead added in a great diagram that will be significantly more beneficial to the readers' understanding. Additionally, I added in a section detailing the goals in designing and integrated circuit package, sectioned into a few relevant categories such as mechanical, thermal and electrical, which are all properties indicative of a package's performance. Finally, I found a great, reliable textbook source that I've added to the source list and cited a couple times already. I plan to spend some time compiling one or two more solid sources and citing a lot of the unreferenced information on the page.

Much of the existing information was discontinuous, and in some cases downright irrelevant. I made attempts to make the history more comprehensible, more linear and also more accurate. A couple parts were also ripped directly from sections of existing Wikipedia pages. In these cases I compared the two and made sure any recent edits were carried through.

One of the problems with this page is that it's such an overarching topic. There are hundreds of very different types of IC packages, and it is therefore difficult to make statements that appropriately apply to all packaging types. I tried to add in a small list of existing pages that go into much more detail for each type (and offered a redirect to the full article 'list of integrated circuit packaging types'), though it currently seems a bit messy and almost irrelevant, since there is a table at the bottom of the page with similar links. I'm thinking that my next goal to bring this page to the next level would be to create a header for all the 'semiconductor packaging' pages. Having a readily-accessible list of all the packaging types, and pages for the associated processes should definitely help to make this page more consistent with Wikipedia standards, and the header could also be placed atop almost 40 other pages that are all in similar levels of disrepair.

Editing your sandbox

[edit]

DerikWP, I've added some comments on your sandbox, mainly regarding the lack of citations in some sections. In addition, in some places there were cases where it did not sound "Wikipedian". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blin1095 (talkcontribs) 17:00, 25 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Azurashi Peer Review

[edit]

Hey,

I think you did a really good job reorganizing and cleaning up the article where it sounded awkward. I read through your Talk page and your intended changes and they make sense, so I would say just keeping doing what you're doing. However, like Blin1095 said, make sure to go back through it and add citations. Also, maybe add links for some terms to their respective articles later on in the editing process; like 'convection'.
