A kitten for you!

[edit]

Here's a kitten for no reason at all. (I was just trying out the "WikiLove" feature.)

  • Hog Island Sheep -> Hog Island sheep; the name of an animal breed is not itself a title and shouldn't be capitalized.
  • Talking about a group or collective, like a breed, is tricky when it involves singular and plural verbs, pronouns, etc. For example, "Hog Island sheep are (plural) a breed(singular)..." and you need to make sure that whatever noun is the subject of the sentence agrees with the grammatical number of the associated verb.
  • {http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Hog_Island_sheep&diff=460698608&oldid=460365065} Page numbers should be separated by a dash, not a hyphen; when only a year is given, the parameter should be labeled "year" rather than "date"; "important" is not spelled "importent".
  • Alt text needs to describe the image, not just simply restate what it is a picture of in a couple of words.
  • "X did this, doing this..." often sounds better than "X did this, and thus did this..."

Hog Island Sheep GAN

[edit]

I've taken on the GAN. A couple of minor issues, but this looks pretty good right now. Please note that while I have offered to do a copyedit myself, you should feel free to seek the advice of others, (especially on the issue of dashes, which I see are being talked about already), since I'm not an experienced CE. Sven Manguard Wha? 16:37, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dashes are easily sorted out, I'll look at that now. Malleus Fatuorum 22:23, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question. The article says "Lambs are born with spotted or speckled fleece; about 90% of adults' fleece is white and 10% black", but what does that mean? Does it mean that the adult sheep are also spotted or speckled in those percentages, or that 90% of adults have white fleece and 10% have black fleece? The picture seems to show a pretty much black sheep so far as I can tell. Malleus Fatuorum 22:23, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I believe 90% of adults have white fleece, not that 10% of each adult's fleece is black. Does "90% of adults have white fleece and 10% black" work better? Der Elbenkoenig (talk) 03:55, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PROMOTED - I've closed the GAN as promoted. Congratulations, and kudos to both of you. Sven Manguard Wha? 14:24, 7 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good Article promotion

[edit]
Congratulations!
Thanks for all the work you did in making Hog Island sheep a certified "Good Article"! Your work is much appreciated. In celebration, here is a kitten playing with wool yarn spun from a Hog Island sheep.[citation needed]

In the spirit of celebration, you may wish to review one of the Good Article nominees that someone else nominated, as there is currently a backlog, and any help is appreciated. All the best, – Quadell (talk) 13:33, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some falafel for you!
