Cricket stats and the infobox

[edit]

Hi. I've noticed a couple of edits you've made where you've added domestic T20 stats to a cricketer's infobox and replaced first-class or List A stats to do so. We generally don't do that - it's something that was agreed a long, long time ago. Amongst other things, it means that infoboxes don't need to be updated anywhere near as frequently which stops them getting out of date.

I understand that there is a set of cricketers who play a lot of T20 cricket and I get why you might feel that domestic T20 is more significant for that cricketer than a limited FC or LA career. In those circumstances, I suggest we try to find a way to add a section to the article itself which summarises their franchise T20 career. I'm not sure if this needs to be prose ("XXX has played over 450 T20 matches, scored more than 20,000 runs and made 32 centuries, including...") or whether there would be a way to add a table (with a brief written summary) to the body of an article to summarise the stats. And I certainly don't know which is the best approach to take. If you'd like to have a go and see and let me know what you think, it'd be appreciated.

I'll watch this page so you can reply underneath and let me know which page(s) you're doing it on - I'm happy to check things over. Thanks. Blue Square Thing (talk) 07:59, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for reaching out to me. As far as I can remember, I had only done it with Chris Lynn and Andre Russell. Yes, I agree entirely that, I have added T20 stats to some cricketer's infobox but haven't removed all of their FC or LA stats. For instance, if there are 2-3 columns, I have added a new column to highlight their T20 stats. Yet, I can understand your concern and I'll refrain myself from removing LA or FC stats as I have done with the two above mentioned cricketers. Thanks. DeoxysX (talk) 13:49, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No worries - thanks for understanding the issue. Any problems, let me know. As an extra thing, if you add a colon (:) in front of your reply it will indent it a little - which is useful for keeping track of who is replying to whom in conversations. Two : will indent two steps, etc... Blue Square Thing (talk) 13:55, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Social Media Sites

[edit]

According to WP:ELMIN and WP:ELOFFICIAL, only one verified social media account can be added in the External Links section of a BLP if he/she doesn't have any other web-presence. If the person has a website which mirrors the posts in their social media accounts, the guidelines says to keep only the website. Hope it helps. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:41, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for making me aware of the Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites. I'll restore those Twitter or FB links if I find the subjects of those articles have no other Web presence. DeoxysX (talk) 20:24, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.S Philbrick(Talk) 14:07, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
