I do like this: but again, if not all lenses are converted, it looks really bad.

But again: I like the idea. Info actually included because of importance:

  • Stabilization: ok
  • Full-frame: ok
  • Out of production: getting intro is a lot of work: even including the "Out of production" consumed hours of research. But this could be included: important if the lens is old or available.
  • Class: Could be removed. Instead:
  • Focal length class: Wide, Tele, superzoom or else: Enables one table per Manufacturer including all focal lengths.
  • Brand could be removed too: is in the paragraph.

Image? From the lens: A lot work. 77.186.7.220 (talk) 01:19, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done some things: if not wanted here, revert.

I thought again: A class AF-S exactly like you done it, and i deleted it, is useful for Nikon lenses.

I sleep now, see us in some hours, max a day. 77.186.7.220 (talk) 02:46, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is that I want to create a single table for all lenses. It makes the table more helpful for shoppers, who are the only people I can imagine being interested. So we'd need the manufacturer as a column. We'd need the focal length as the first thing in its column, so it can be sorted on. Class is useful for different makes, not just Nikon. Production dates are helpful if we can get them. A table is not necessarily complete. It shows others where they might help contribute. - Denimadept (talk) 03:15, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I like what you are doing. A single table for all of the lenses will be quite long. Perhaps a table for Nikkors and a table for third-party lenses. Teleconverters and extension tubes should not be in the same table(s). Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 03:24, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To me, Comparison of digital SLRs has too much information. On my screen, the table is about twice as wide as the screen. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 06:36, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this is a list of lenses. Teleconverters and extension tubes aren't lenses as such. I'm impressed with Comparison of digital SLRs.
Class is important because different classes have different amounts of compatibility. From the D40 specs on nikonusa.com:
Compatible Lenses
    AF-S, AF-I: All Functions Supported.
IX NIKKOR Lenses Cannot be Used.
Non-CPU: Can be used in mode M, but Exposure Meter does not Function; Electronic Rangefinder can be used if Maximum Aperture is f/5.6 or Faster.
Other AF NIKKOR/AI-P NIKKOR (Excluding lenses for F3AF): All Functions Supported Except Autofocus and 3D Color Matrix Metering II.
Other Type G or D AF Nikkor: All Functions Supported Except Autofocus.
PC Micro- NIKKOR 85mm f/2.8D: Can only be used in Mode M; All Functions Supported Except Autofocus.
So the class matters. - Denimadept (talk) 06:16, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I will answer in an hour. 77.186.7.220 (talk) 08:46, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
All right: updated the article:
Additionally all lenses in this list from Nikon and other manufacturers do integrate a CPU (microprocessor) and additionally electronically communicate the focus distance information. Therefore all lenses in this list support all Nikon DSLRs with all camera's exposure and Through-the-lens (TTL) metering modes including Matrix Metering mode, and also flash autoexposure like 3D (Color) Matrix Metering, D-TTL and I-TTL.
So far you posted:
  • "AF-S, AF-I: All Functions Supported." And thats it: Although there are lenses where the "class" is important, there are NO lenses included in this article so the individual mentioning especially in a special column is here useless. BUT AGAIN: Thanks, i learned and updated the article. All lenses in this list are free from major trouble.
Comparison of digital SLRs includes many unimportant or minor details like weight, although there is some use and its no fault, its not necessary. 77.186.7.220 (talk) 11:00, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, "Image" of the lens. - Denimadept (talk) 20:19, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
