A tag has been placed on Earthian (disambiguation), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. StephenBuxton (talk) 15:21, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- I don't really see other ways, because one person just continue adding this information at the top of Earthian article.--Deerstop (talk) 15:24, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
After reading your edits, I would consider that the titles of the series be used (not the publisher, which, in this case, is "Anime News Network"). Your thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 16:30, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Why not? I edited the links only because they were too long and ugly horizontal scrolling appeared in 1024x768 resolution. Either title or publisher would be fine. --deerstop (talk) 16:56, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Wondering how should we go about this. You'd prefer to change it or should I? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 17:24, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Diplomatic missions in MSK
Hi, I am working on diplomatic missions in Russia, and am trying to enlist the help of Wikipedians in the different Russian cities to provide photos which we can use on this article. As you are Moscow, I was wondering if you may be in the position to be able to take some photos of the various embassies and missions in Moscow, so that we can use them on that article. Feel free to reply here, or on my talk page, if you need any more info. Cheers --Россавиа Диалог 19:08, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- I do not mind taking the photos, although my photographic skills are far from perfect. Are you fine with it? -- DEERSTOP (talk). 21:43, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Background color change
Hey. What was the reason for changing the background colors of Template:NavigationEuropeanChampionsFigureSkatingPairs and similar European champions in figure skating templates? Kolindigo (talk) 03:10, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- I just thought they were cheerless, so the reason is aesthetics. You can undo this, if you disapprove the changes. -- DEERSTOP (talk). 11:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Your input requested
Hi. A proposal on the re-creation of WP:RUSSIA is currently underway at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Russia/Proposal. One of the main points is that we should have workgroups covering different topics. We are trying to ascertain the interest of editors in various workgroups under WP:RUSSIA, such as history, politics, biographical, etc; as your userpage indicates you are Russian or live in Russia, perhaps you can take a read of the proposal, comment on it wherever you have thoughts, and perhaps provide details of any Russian topics you may be interested and are willing to collaborate with other editors on? Your input is valued. Cheers. --Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 20:30, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey. Thanks for all your work on figure skating articles. I am a little confused regarding the recent interwiki-linking of Step sequence and Moves in the field between the English and Russian language Wikipedias.
From what I can tell of the Russian article ru:Шаги в фигурном катании, it was initially a correspondance of Moves in the field, as shown from when you created it. You then transfered the interwiki link to Step sequence without changing any content of the Russian page. This is after I created the step sequence page on English-language Wikipedia. I am confused by this.
Was this originally a Russian-language page about step sequences that was interwiki-linked to moves in the field because English-language wikipedia did not contain an equivalent article on step sequences and this is now being corrected? Is this a Russian-language page on moves in the field that is being mapped to step sequences because that is a better match? Or is this a Russian-language page on both moves in the field and step sequences, in which case it doesn't map to either the English-language moves in the field or step sequences? I am further confused because the Russian page contains an image of Johnny Weir performing cross overs as a linking element, not as part of a step sequence.
Thanks, Kolindigo (talk) 20:18, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for writing and I'm sorry for the confusion. Well, yes, I've created Шаги в фигурном катании and directed the page to moves in the field for two reasons 1) English-language wikipedia did not contain an equivalent article; 2) I don't clearly understand what are moves in the field and not sure whether this term exists in Russian language or not. We had a really long discusssion about moves and after not being able to find equivalent term in Russian desided to link Шаги в фигурном катании there. Also, at that time I thought that maybe steps in English are called moves in the field. :) Шаги в фигурном катании literally means "Steps in figure scating", so Russian article is a bit wider. I know that Steps in figure scating doesn't equal Step sequence, but, well, they are close. Your suggestions? -- DEERSTOP (talk). 20:33, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- As for Johnny Weir, he is doing cross overs, which are considered steps in, er, our country. :) -- DEERSTOP (talk). 20:37, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. From the sound of that, that article is not the equivalant of step sequences, because step sequences refers to the element itself as shown in the protocol (straight line step sequence, circular step sequence, that sort of thing). But I'm not sure if moves in the field is a better choice, since steps in figure skating sounds like it refers to everything that isn't an element. Maybe we don't have an article on English wikipedia that means the same thing. Kolindigo (talk) 20:51, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- You are probably right. Then, would you be so kind to explain the differense between moves in the field and connecting elements?
- Steps in figure skating sounds like it refers to everything that isn't an element - No steps, as used here, only refer to step sequence and to such elements as choctaw, crossover, mohawk turn, twizzle and etc. In any case, you don't have to deal with all this stuff. :) We will somehow figure it out in our wikipedia. -- DEERSTOP (talk). 21:24, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:DVD-VIDEO-2.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:DVD-VIDEO-2.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 19:21, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Hello Deerstop, I am not sure whether this image shows Protopopov and Belousova or rather Protopopov and Seyfert. The description of the original image says that the persons depicted are, from left to right: Danzer, Belousova, Marek, Protopopov, Seyfert. If this description is correct, then your cropped image should perhaps be re-uploaded under a different name. Greetings, --UV (talk) 19:56, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Johnny Weir Article Trolling
Please do not add snide and dopey personal opinions to articles ("Some debate his sexuality. Although Weir has never openly talked about his sexuality, it comes into question why a straight man would dress like a swan during the Olympics"). Wikipedia entries are not for you to express your private snarkiness or bigotry, they are for legitimate and SOURCED information.
And when an article has a number of very good photos attached to it, there is no reason to replace them with less-attractive photos just because you found them. 70.16.107.201 (talk) 18:01, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Zetsuai
I'm sorry, I didn't realise you'd said something on the Talk:Zetsuai 1989 page. The Russian page is better than you know - while the reception section will keep the article from being deleted by well-intentioned deletionists on the English Wikipedia, knowing what the plot's about is far more important and universally applicable - how can you understand Suzuki saying that Takuto's mother is an example of scary women in yaoi unless you know how she's portrayed through the plot? If you'd like some assistance porting over the reception to the Russian Wikipedia, I'd be happy to help you. I've tweaked the synopsis of the second volume for grammar, I hope I haven't accidentally destroyed the meaning. --Malkinann (talk) 11:04, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Not sure what happened here, but the AFD tag was missing from the article - so someone came along and nominated it for AFD again. Speedy deletion nomination of Kill Time Communication
You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Kill Time Communication requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 19:27, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Robert Chase.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Robert Chase.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:03, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- I see. The image was renewed. Then it's okay to delete the old version. -- deerstop. 12:49, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm seriously tempted to revert the changes you made to the image. Yes Mao is more clearly viewable, but the background now is hugely washed out with the vibrant green that was there now looking more like a muddy blue. Case in point, take a look at this image on Getty which clearly shows what the background is supposed to look like. Tabercil (talk) 01:35, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- I did that on purpose. The background was too bright, in my opinion, so I tried to make it pale. What's the problem? It was green, now it is blue, so what? I don't think someone cares about the color of the background. -- deerstop. 11:47, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- I don't about you, but I'm trying to make the image as faithful as possible to what was actually there and be usable to all. Changing the background like that violates that principle. But in the interim, I went back to the original image and tried a slightly different approach and got much better results... take a look at File:Mao Asada 2010 OP Press conference exp.jpg Tabercil (talk) 17:27, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Well... I don't think your results are "much better". Maybe we should ask other users at Talk:Mao Asada. If other people feel that your version is better, then so be it. -- deerstop. 19:42, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

I'm a bit perplexed by this edit of yours to the above. You marked 'minor edit' in the edit summary, and it appears to be anything but. There is a net reduction of 12kB of content. Wikipedia Stories Project
Hi!
My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. I'm chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who make and use Wikipedia have so much to share.
I'm scouring user pages looking for inspiring, motivating and interesting stories of how Wikipedia has affected the lives of people. I'm asking questions like "How has Wikipedia changed your life?", "What's the most interesting story you have about Wikipedia?" and "Has Wikipedia ever surprised you?"
Last year, we used the annual fundraiser as a way to show the world who it is who actually writes Wikipedia. We featured editors from Brazil, Ukraine, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, India, United States and England. This campaign was a huge success, resulting in the most financially successful fundraising campaign ever. It was also a campaign that stayed true to the spirit of Wikipedia, educating the public that this free top-5 website is created by volunteers like you and I.
This year we want to highlight more Russian-language Wikipedia editors, so I am in the process of planning a trip to Russia to interview editors.
If you or someone you know (or have heard about) has been positively affected by Wikipedia, or have something interesting to say about Wikipedia I'd very much like to hear about it!
Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project, or if you know someone else with whom I should speak.
Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please ask! I will answer as soon as I can. I apologize for any poor translation of this letter, I am using Google-translate. I hope it makes you laugh :)
Thank you for your time,
Victor Grigas

Orphaned non-free media (File:Rankin-bass-hobbit-elves.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Rankin-bass-hobbit-elves.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:10, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WP:PERM Request
Hi Deerstop, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 15:26, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
