RfA thanks
[edit]Thank you for your support in my recent RfA, which closed successfully. I felt the process was a thorough review of my contributions and my demeanor, and I was very gratified to see how many editors took the time to really see what I'm about and how I can be of help to the project. As a result, some editors changed their views during the discussion, and most expressed specific, detailed points to indicate their opinion (whether it was , , or ).
A number of editors were concerned about my level of experience. I was purposeful in not waiting until a particular benchmark occurred before requesting adminship, because I feel - as many do - that adminship is not a reward and that each case is individual. It is true that I am not the most experienced editor around here, but I appreciate that people dug into my contributions enough to reach the conclusion that I seem to have a clue. Also, the best thing about this particular concern is that experience is something an editor - or administrator - can always get more of, and I'll continue doing that, just as I've been doing. (If I seem a little slow at it, feel free to slap me.)
I am a strong believer in the concept that this project is all about the content, and I'm looking forward to contributing wherever I can. Please let me know if I can be of any help. In the meantime, I'm off to school...
Thanks again!
Deleted Userspace page
[edit]Hi, I tried to start a page a few days ago but it was deleted since I wasn't doing it fast enough and it looked like an attack page. I don't know if you remember or not? It was my first wiki page. Anyways, I worked it up offline and put it back up in my user space and I just wanted to get some feedback to see if I could put it into wiki space. I tried to work out all the neutrality and BLP kinks.
I asked for help on my talk page and someone said I should ask the people who deleted the page. So, I hope this is the right way to contact you. The user page is here http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:LegalFiction/James_Sears

DragoonCorp artical deleted.
[edit]Why was the DragoonCorp artical deleted. the reason i was given was "Total nonsense, i.e., text or random characters or Content that, while apparently meaningful after a fashion, is so completely and irredeemably confused that no reasonable person can be expected to make any sense of it whatsoever." and it was clearly not ether of them. So if i am to rewrite it then i need to know what was wrong with the first one. Yes this is a language invented by me and it has its own script and consonants. I intend on uploading the full script sheet tomorrow.
I agree that it is not a global language as only I speak it. I am a polyglot and really do speak 35 languages.

I can not explain to you how we actually further the cause of visual programming on this blog I realy think I am not breaking any rule because we fit 100 % into those topics and we can not put all on wiki because any page I start with good intentions are being removed with the comment it does not fit the topic the funny thing is I have been working in this field for over 10 years and finally I want to contribute to the common knoledge base and I am cut with out reason s I understand. I guess that ends my wiki activities for good and all those other companies will remain there and they DO realy make adverising, I have a completely new thing to offer in the respective fields they do not. Re: Sayville, NY External Link
[edit]Thank you for responding so quickly. I reviewed the external link guidelines and still believe a link to the map is okay to be on the site. The maps include details about the restaurants, shops and other sights in Sayville that are not in the article. I believe these details cannot be included in the article as there are too many. The content in the maps are meaningful and relevant - and the listings on the maps are offered for free to businesses (the website is not all about advertising). I will request that the link be added on the talk page of that article and any other maps from now on.

User Name; AmericanGreenCrossnet
[edit]The reason why the user name of " AmericanGreenCrossnet" was used is because of the confusion which may occur from copycats of the like kind name . American Green Cross.net is the legal name Registered with the Internal Revenue Service for its 501-c-3 non-profit status.
The Name "American Green Cross" and the Name "International Green Cross" are both US registered Trademark of mine.
The name of : "American Green Cross.net" is the registered Colorado State corporate name .
However , due to the inconsistant rules on Domain Names VS Trademarked Names , there is a domain named AmericanGreenCross.org which is a false front church pretending to be an environmental organization , but is not , and is just one of almost 8,000 domain names held by its domain name owner George Russell .
There are also San Fransisco folks selling marijana under the name Green Cross.
And then there is a legitimate medical suppiler using the name Green Cross.
The user name of "Americangreencrossnet" was used to differentiate from similar names .

Hello,
I'm sorry, I don't know the english procedures for deletion.
As you can see, this page was renamed with a 0 to replace the o. I don't understand the reason why Канопус Киля, but it's a non-sense creation. I saw this renaming because this user try to rename the article Kharkiv on fr wiki.
The history of this page doesn't need to be preserved, because it has always been a redirect.
If the delete request must be done differently, could you do it for me please (if you agree with my analysis of course ;) )

Deletion questions
[edit]Hi,
You recently tagged a page for deletion I created (A+b Kasha). I placed a hangon tag, but the page was deleted anyways before I had a chance to respond. I'm wondering if you can help me understand where I went wrong.
The page was deleted as "blatant advertising, no assertion of notability, merely promotional" but I thought I took special care to only state facts and not promote. I have no affiliation with the company, I only find them interesting as they are in a domain that interests me: the faithful restoration of classic Parisian interiors. I read carefully through all of the Wikipedia guidelines before writing, and thought I was following them. I also looked at many, many small company profiles already present on Wikipedia, and used them as a model, assuming that their presence would mean they are acceptable under the guidelines.
The primary criterion for "notability" under the guidelines is references from trusted sources. I added several, thinking that citations in The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Forbes magazines, and others more than satisfied the notability and objectivity criteria, particularly since many company profiles have no attribution at all.
Would you be so kind as to elaborate on the specifics that led to your decision, so I can attempt to correct them?
Many thanks.
You wrote:
"The crux of the matter was a lack of content that showed this meets notability guidelines in general-- see WP:N and those for companies in particular-- see WP:CORP. The content is not encyclopedic in tone. It's too "fluffy". Not dry enough. Unfortunately, there are articles on Wikipedia that read more like fluff pieces than encyclopedia articles. There are also articles on Wikipedia about non notable subjects. Anyway, I generally restore articles and send for discussion at WP:AFD if the creator makes a strong argument. If you feel the subject meets notability requirements, let me know and I will. Hope that helps."
Thanks for your helpful advice. I guess I can see what you mean. Instead of sending for discussion right away I'll try rewriting the article to "de-fluff" it and make it a bit more dry, more encyclopedic. Question: would you consider taking a look at it to see if it's wiki-worthy if I do the rewrite on my user page? Or should I just rewrite and re-create the page and hope for the best? Thanks again. --NBlaxall (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 17:22, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Notability(people)
[edit]Special cases
[edit] Failing basic criteria but meeting additional criteria
If neither a satisfying explanation nor appropriate sources can be found for a standalone article, but the person meets one or more of the additional criteria:
* Merge the article into a broader article providing context. * Place a {{mergeto}} tag on the page, indicating the page where the article may be merged. * If no article currently exists into which the person can be merged, consider writing the article yourself or request the article be written.
[edit] Failure to explain the subject's notability
If an article does not explain the notability of its subject,[11] try to improve it by:
* Rewriting it yourself * Asking the article's editor(s) for advice.
[edit] Insufficient sources
If an article fails to cite sufficient sources:
* Look for sources yourself * Ask the article's editor(s) for advice on where to look for sources.
* Put the
The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for biographies. (March 2009) |
tag on the article to notify other editors.
* If the article is about a specialized field, use the {{Expert-subject}} tag with a specific WikiProject to attract editors knowledgeable about that field, who may have access to reliable sources not available online.

[edit]Thanks for weighing in at my RfA. Your oppose was more than reasonable, and in retrospect it's the most obvious problem with my nomination - it would be very easy for an Archtransit or some Wikipedia Review type to create a sleeper account and try an end-run around the usual process in this manner, so I can appreciate why you wouldn't feel safe handing over the tools. As it is, I'm not a malicious user, and not trying to toy with the community — I'm a long-time gnome user who tends to switch accounts, edit anonymously, and so on — but it's not fair to expect you to take that on blind faith. I will continue to contribute in my non-admin capacities, as adminship probably just isn't what I'm made for. - Still good of you to help out. More helpful than me, anyway. I tend to shoot CSDs first and ask questions later. If it really is a VH1 reality show, I think you can safely assume it's at least notable. If it gets big, edits will probably gravitate to the article naturally. Re Charles Schuebler House (Speedy / Declined)
[edit]Thank you for contacting me. I am aware that you refused the CSD on this article, but I tagged it according to my personal opinion. I doubt I will be the only one who tags it, and it needs some extreme expansion to make it into a worthwhile encyclopedic article. Thor Malmjursson (talk) 02:55, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Add: Also on Whit's diner; It might not be suitable for speedy, but again, extremely short article and was worthy. Very little material in article itself. Thor Malmjursson (talk) 02:57, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Wellll.... how's this for criteria for removal? The NRIS does not list Charles Schuebeler House as being registered as a historic place. It find's Whit's diner, but not that one. I just looked for it. Can you give me guidance now as to where the heck to go with this? I don't want it to look like a Bad Faith Nom, but there really is nothing keeping it there now. :) I am not being picky, just trying to iron this out! Thor Malmjursson (talk) 03:25, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- Aha. (LOL). I have been editing for over 3 years, and have built a heck of a lot of articles in that time. I am only back recently to CVP and New Page Patrol. However, with regard to searching, my search skills are honed perfectly. I used this page to search the NRIS's historic places database, and entered MA for the state code, then Charles Schuebeler House in the next box. It came back as Search option off or No Data Found. Since it found Whit's Diner, I noted that it wasn't on the register... Its amazing how thick I can be sometimes. >:^) No hard feelings. Thor Malmjursson (talk) 03:47, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit]- Regarding the page Recusal (Academia) (no, I'm not here to complain!)
- Could you help me in understanding the Speedy criteria and A5?
- I don't debate your removal of it, I want to better understand the reasoning...
- ...so that I can better use the criteria (or not use it) in the future.
- here's what I saw (so you can point out what I missed):
- Page on EN that was, well, bad.
- Page on Wikitionary that was the same topic and shorter 9more concise) definition.
- A5 stated, among others, "consists only of a dictionary definition" and "is on Wikitionary".
- (quotes are for clarity and not necessarily direct)
- That's why I added the tag (was thinking it would be faster/easier than a gimme Prod).
- I missed something or misunderstood something; can you help me understand what it was?
- I would appreciate any assistance/insight you could provide.

Weird (another admin question)
[edit]- So I made up a new page - kinda tongue-in-cheek - and attempted to move it to Template space.
- I got a message that the page was protected from creation.
- I thought to myself, "self, maybe it's been salted?" There was no deletion log, though.
- I tried a different title in Template space. Still no joy.
- So I finally decided to keep it in userspace. SAME MESSAGE!
- So, uhm, I don't get it. Thought, "Self, let's go ask for help." Here I am.
- The page is User:VengeancePrime/Test.
- I initially tried to move it to Template:Ownership
- Not successful, I tried Template:Owners
- Finally, User:VengeancePrime/Templates/Ownership
- Am I missing something? Is Wikipedia misfiring? Is it just weird?
- Any insight you could provide would be appreciated. Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime 20:45, 10 Aug 2008 (UTC)
totally off-topic
[edit]- I fixed your User:Dlohcierekim/Userboxen page. If I read the coding right, the userboxes were supposed to be in two columns. There was an extranneous (visible) character, spacing discrepancy, and one box overlapped and obfuscated one of the right-side boxes. So I just re-coded it to make to nice columns. I hope that was what you were after. Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime 20:50, 10 Aug 2008 (UTC)
Review
[edit]I was just wondering if you could give me a quick review. Recently my RfA failed and I would like to know whether or not I'm doing everything I can to prevent that from happening again. Darth Mike (talk · contribs · deleted · count · AfD · logs · block log · lu · rfar · spi)

- Thanks a lot, I've read through your review and will try to take everything you said and implement it into my editing -- Darth Mike (Talk • Contribs) 20:53, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Just wondering why you declined a speedy for this page? The talk page had no significant edit history and was of no use to WP:FILM, which is why I removed the project banner and tagged it for CSD G8. As for the validity of the redirect, I honestly don't know. PC78 (talk) 18:35, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, you've posted a comment on it now, so best to leave it. :) No worries, I've just removed the project banner. Regards. PC78 (talk) 19:50, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
You asked why I felt this was redirecting to an invalid target. At the time I tagged this with an R1, its target was nonexistent. By the time you looked into it, the target article had been created, thus solving the problem. -- Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 20:59, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Micheal Phelps is not good
[edit]Sure Micheal Phelps is winning all those gold medals and is so called the best Olympian ever. But who said being an olympian is all about winning, to be the perfect Olympian you have to have physical strength but also a kind respective attitude but does Micheal Phelps have that. No, no he doesnt which makes him half a perfect olympian so who is the perfect olympian who has those too put together. Hardly anyone but no there is two Stephanie rice and Ian Thorpe. Sure Stehphanie is still ypung but at least she has a good attitude. What about Ian Thorpe his retired but was never a show- off or a boaster like Micheal Phelps. So what do i say. Viva Ian Thorpe, Viva Stephanie Rice, Viva Grant Hackett, Viva Eadmon Sullivan, Viva Australia. But long Micheal Phelps your going down. Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie Oi oi oi!

- Heya, I just wanted to let you know that I hope I'm not causing you too much strife over this article. I don't deny that secretaries of state are (generally) notable, but I can't get over the lack of content combined with the CSD criteria of "other language" bit. That said, I encourage you in your efforts to enhance the article and wanted to let you know that I do not intend to be in the AfD discussion vehemently defending the "need" to delete... that's just my way in these, Nominate and let the chips fall where they may. Of course, as a good Wikipedian, I would much rather see a really good article emerge than a meager article be deleted.
- And BTW, you can say "Cheers" to me anytime, drinking friend or no. (Some people take life WAY too serious!)
- Take Care, Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime 03:20, 14 Aug 2008 (UTC)
- ...Exactly my point.
- And the article now is probably a no-brainer keep.
- Didn't mean to seem antagonistic if I did.
- But the end result is good, eh? Good article and attention to it for more improvement.
- Take Care; working with you again has been a pleasure as always. Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime 11:40, 14 Aug 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks Dlohcierekim. your translation is actually a lot better than you thought. I had aimed to get around to translating the Costa Rican politicians articles from spsnish wikipedia in the coming weeks. The recent actions were just ignorant that a Secretary of State for a country and presidential candidate is "non notable". I'm not going to try to fight to save it as any decent wikipedian can see that it should be kept. Note that all of the "non notable" politican articles are in the process of being expanded and I don't start articles if I don't think they are notable or beneficial for wikipedia. Given time they will all be translated into useful articles. Thanks ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:47, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Exactly I try to be as productive as I possibly can. If I create a batch of stubs like I did with Costa Rica, then you can be assured that I have plans to translate them or get useful missing content onto wikipedia. Thanks for letting me know and your help, regards ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
My suggestion to the nominator...
[edit]- As you said, "My suggestion to the nominator would be that they do a little research with the idea of sourcing and strengthening articles where the speedy deletion declined or the PROD removed"
- Point Taken.
- I appreciate your patience and constructive critisism that helps me develop.
- I'll continue working to better understand and execute.
- Take Care, Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime 15:31, 14 Aug 2008 (UTC)
Exactly. But the result of the article was WP:SNOWBALL (speedy keep) as I anticipated but you werne't to know. If you have doubts on the notability of an article in future Vengeance, I would suggest you do a little research to see if it can be expanded or not first, or kindly ask the article creator to expand it. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:13, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
I've made a start on Supreme Court of Justice of Costa Rica which was missing entirely. I've made a good start but I;m hoping I can get some fellow contributers. PLus I;ve now translated around 6 or 7 Costa Rican politicians! Isaac Felipe Azofeifa etc.. The Bald One White cat 14:45, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Insight Requested
[edit]- Big-D! I was wondering if I might get your insights on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dates in Star Wars discussion. Considering our record of agreeing versus disagreeing (well, actually I usually agree with you, it just takes a minute or two!), I wanted your insights and thoughts, not to mention you're way smarter than me in these matters!
- If you have time, 'twould be appreciated. Vengeance is mine, saith the Prime 23:17, 14 Aug 2008 (UTC)
"authoritative cruft"
[edit]- I love it. Thanks. That pretty much DOES sum it up.
- Maybe a TransWiki? (I'm admittedly not entirely sure what that entails.)

Deletion of Tomasso Squitti
[edit]In reference to your deletion of the said topic.
Please be advised that as of last year a reliable source of information was found on the net and provided.
As to prior claims that this individual has the same last name as myself, this is a 'red herring'...
Please advise.
Thanks

Your Alert Message regarding edits for Carnatic Music
[edit]Thanks for the alert message. I guess the same rule applys to Ncmvocalist who acted similarly first. I did only 2 undo's in 24 hrs. I did not revert any new edits. I just brought back the section that existed before Ncmvocalist deleted first without discussions . The section was introduced based on discussions and feed back by many editors. Therefore RFC should be based on the status of the article that existed before Ncmvocalist reverted first. Please remind Ncmvocalist about this. I have reminded several times. For logical RFC we need to start with the version of the article before Ncmvocalist reverted first.Naadapriya (talk) 16:09, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
