Notability of Scott gillen
[edit]A tag has been placed on Scott gillen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 22:03, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- For capitalization, the page can be easily moved to "Scott Gillen" if the page is kept. If you can find proper references to reliable sources that are independent of the subject, please add them. I do NOT recommend getting material from his agent or publicist, because we strongly discourage people from editing articles about themselves or about subjects with which they have a close connection for conflict of interest reasons. Furthermore, such material does not tend to be conducive to maintaining the neutral point of view that we strive for in all articles. If you have any other questions, let me know. --Finngall talk 22:46, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- First off, I am not an administrator. You have exactly the same powers, privileges and permissions to do stuff around here as I do--the only difference between us is in whatever reputation (good or ill) I have garnered from my contributions over the two years I've been editing here.
- Anyone can tag an article for speedy deletion. The criteria for this can be found here. Articles so tagged are reviewed by an admin who will either delete the article or deny the request, and possibly take other action. In addition, articles that do not meet the speedy criteria can still be deleted by other means: The proposed deletion process (or "prod") for less-controversial deletions, or the more formal Articles for Deletion (AfD) mechanism whereby commentary is solicited among a wider audience.
- The "hangon" tag may cause an admin to pause, but it really needs to accompanied by further attempts to improve the article and/or a reasonable explanation that the necessary improvements are forthcoming. If the article obviously does not belong here, the hangon tag will make no difference.
- Of course, there are many articles which do belong here but which need some work, and there are a wealth of tags and templates that can be placed on articles to flag them for improvements if you don't have the time or expertise to fix them yourself. You can peruse these templates from here.
- One can easily check the list of newly-created pages, and quite a number of people do monitor that list. Some folks like me are more into playing Whac-A-Mole with the vandalism, the vanity articles, and the spam articles by every two-bit company and crappy wannabe band on six continents. Others are on the lookout for new articles in their areas of interest or expertise--my sister is part of a group of editors who keep track of all Oregon-related articles, for instance. If cars are your thing, there's a WikiProject Automobiles and several related projects on various forms of racing. For television, check out WikiProject Television and its subprojects.
- I encourage you to read up on Wikipedia's policies and procedures. Poke around, figure out where you can contribute, and don't hesitate to be bold if you see anything you can improve, and don't hesitate to come to me if you have questions. Take care, and happy editing! --Finngall talk 17:27, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- PS: With regard to the original subject, the fact that the Scott Gillen article has been speedily deleted does not preclude its recreation, provided the new version is more in keeping with Wikipedia's guidelines. If you want to work on it further, I recommend creating a subpage of your user page (User:DeejayGPS/Scott Gillen, for example) as a private workspace where you can tinker with it at your leisure, and then simply move the contents to the main article space when it's ready for prime time.
AfD nomination of Gabe Sandler
[edit]I have nominated Gabe Sandler, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gabe Sandler. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Proposed deletion of Reality Racing Incorporated
[edit]The article Reality Racing Incorporated has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Defunct production company fails WP:CORPDEPTH, sourced with press releases
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Vrac (talk) 22:05, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
