Categories

[edit]

Hello. Regarding these recent edits of yours [1], [2], I noticed you have been attempting to add an item directly to category pages.

In Wikipedia, we do not add items to a category by editing the category page, we add them by editing the individual articles' pages and linking the category from there. For newer editors, it's understandably a counter-intuitive system. Category pages are not intended to be exhaustive lists; in fact, they are not lists at all. Categories are navigation aids. They are merely groupings of related, existing English Wikipedia pages.

To categorize a page, you must go to the page you wish to categorize and add the category at the bottom of the page with the other categories, first making sure the page actually belongs to the category. In this case, no article exists for ASU DEV, so what you trying to do impossible unless the article is created.

Please read Wikipedia:Categorization and Help:Category for more information and clarification.

Let me know if you need any assistance or have any questions. Thank you and have a great day! --DB1729 (talk) 06:54, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: ASU DEV (January 30)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted because it included copyrighted content, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work. DanCherek (talk) 13:43, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:ASU DEV requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://artofasudev.org/about/, https://artofasudev.org/life-times/asu-dev-an-appreciation/, and https://artofasudev.org/life-times/asudevs-paintings-part-1/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. visiting the page The articles and images associated with it is from a compiled website www.artofasudev.org, which has been authored by me. The website and all materials are actual publications for the Artist ASUDEV's Exhibition catalogues and have been compiled in the website. Being the son of ASU DEV, I have the absolute rights of publication of the texts and visuals of my father's paintings which are in my collection, as inherited property. I hope the writeups associated with my father's life and times are entirely free from copyright. Both the compiled website www.artofasudev.org and the Wikipedia page is authored by myself. It is only a matter of convenience to use the articles as it is. Thank you Debanutosh (talk) 15:55, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Asu Dev moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Asu Dev, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. دَستخَط، اِفلاق (کَتھ باتھ) 04:21, 5 February 2022 (UTC) Thank you actually the page that I was editing had some errors, but now that is corrected. [edit]

Hello, I'm Justiyaya. I noticed that in this edit to Draft:Asu Dev, you removed all the content from the page. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you wish to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Justiyaya 05:03, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't realize that was a draft D: sorry about that, tagged for deletion under WP:G7 instead Justiyaya 05:15, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your edit to Draft:ASU DEV has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. File permission problem with File:Assam-tribune-14-december-2017.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Assam-tribune-14-december-2017.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 16:08, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
