Status check
[edit]Hi Dcheney, I thought if anyone might be able to help me with a question about Catholic-hierarchy.org it would be you. I was perusing the thread concerning whether CH was a reliable source, and saw that the consensus reached there was a little muddled. It was rather surprising to me that CH isn't considered an RS, since it certainly passes the duck test. I often find myself wanting to cite to it, but hesitate because of CH's classification as potentially non-RS in the past. I was thinking about opening up another discussion at WP:RSN to reach a consensus (hopefully in favor of concluding CH is an RS). I was wondering if you have thoughts about this. - For obvious reasons, I don't think it is appropriate for me to comment on the merits of the site as a source. I'll happily provide any information that I can regarding the site and the sources I use. It would be nice to have a more clear cut answer to the question - the last outcome was rather muddled. It might also be useful to get the perspective of non-English wiki, since it is used as a source for many of them. Dcheney (talk) 00:53, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
- Good idea. I know the Italian Wikipedia makes frequent use of it. Ergo Sum 01:17, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for coming to Wiknic Midwest 2020!
[edit]Hi Dcheney! Thanks for attending the Wiknic Midwest breakout session today! I hope you enjoyed it, and if you're interested in continuing to chat with others about local Wikimedia organizing across the US, look no farther than Wikimedians Active in Local Regions of the United States (WALRUS). WALRUS has calls twice a month – to get the invitations, shoot a message to Pharos. And, of course, always feel free to leave me a note if I can be any help. General Roman Calendar
[edit][I am responding to your email] Great ... the articles have really been "gutted" and I do not know why ... it seems that we need to be back in the original articles ... I am a "new" user and would possibly get it wrong ... could you edit the following articles, ESPECIALLY the Months/Dates? Thanks a lot!
1) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/General_Roman_Calendar [I think that this is fine, the Months/Dates are added back by the users Baokhang48812002, Ann Teak, 7oto, Jose Corregidor, and Elizium23]
2) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Tridentine_calendar [revert to 18 May 2022 by the user Pbritti]
3) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/General_Roman_Calendar_of_1954 [revert to 8 September 2022 by the user PaulGS]
4) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/General_Roman_Calendar_of_Pope_Pius_XII [revert to 16 May 2022 by the user Ffffrr]
5) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/General_Roman_Calendar_of_1960 [revert to 16 August 2022 by the user Baokhang48812002]
6) https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/General_Roman_Calendar_of_1969 [users Elizium23 and Pbritti are comfortable with this, and see the "Mysterii_Paschalis" is included in the article. Bob Tarver (talk) 21:57, 14 September 2022 (UTC)
Interview for 90.1 FM, KKFI, Kansas City Community Radio?
[edit]Might you have time and interest in helping me recruit between, say, two and four people, including yourself, to be interviewed for Radio Active Magazine, Presenter: Spencer Graves, KKFI, Wikidata Q57451712{{citation}}
: CS1 maint: others (link), which is broadcasted Tuesday evenings, 6-6:30 PM on KKFI?
I'm currently producing most of the content for that show. My calendar is currently open for any Tuesday December 20 or later. I would love to interview some Wikimedians in the greater Kansas City area. I found Wikipedia:Meetup/Kansas City. That page lists 16 events between 2012-06-16 and 2021-11-20 plus one that was apparently canceled and nothing since 2021-11-20. I left message on the associated Talk page. Sadly, I've seen no response to that. I've also found and Wikipedia:WikiProject Kansas City.
Thanks, DavidMCEddy (talk) 02:21, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
Edit-a-thons to create directories of Kansas City organizations?
[edit]@Dcheney: Might you have time and interest in helping organize edit-a-thons to involve people in using Wikidata to create directories of different types of organizations in the greater metro area?
I've posted a discussion of this idea to Wikipedia talk:Meetup/Kansas City#Edit-a-thons to create directories of Kansas City organizations?
You may know that I got your name during WikiConference North America last Friday. Best Wishes, DavidMCEddy (talk) 19:02, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Same persons?
[edit]Dear Dchaney!
However I look at the sources, it seems to me that these two bishops are the same person: bjaniscs (János, bishop of Csanád (Q1058342)) and bmeranj (John, Archbishop of Esztergom (Q18126338)). According to the descriptions, both were bishops of Csanád between 1198/99-1201/03. The Catholic Hierarchy is as if the life path of the same person is reported in two parts: I. János, bishop of Csanád is the bishop of Csanád, but according to the CH he died. The fact that he was the bishop of Csanád was omitted from the life of Archbishop Johanes von Meran (Wd: John, Archbishop of Esztergom). It is enough to read the English-language article, but it is also stated in several Hungarian-language sources that Archbishop Johanes von Meran was the bishop of Csánád in the same period as János.
Could you look at it?
Thank you, bye! Pallor (talk) 22:21, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
- Howdy Pallor,
- It seems that it is possible, but so far none of the sources I've consulted show the connection - I'm still looking :-)
- Thanks, Dcheney (talk) 01:15, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hello! Did you manage to find out anything? There is a Hungarian book based on which I am sure that these two people were the same, but it is in Hungarian and was published in print, I cannot quote from it.
- According to this, János (János I/John I) is mentioned for the first time in a document dated 1198 as the elected bishop of Csanád, and he held this position from 1199-1201. He became the bishop of Kalocsa in 1203 (here, the book describes his role in Hungarian domestic politics at the time, as well as the power struggles between the archdiocese of Kalocsa and Esztergom), and then III. Ince appointed János I from Kalocsa to the head of the Esztergom archbishopric by transfer. Died about November 1223. Based on all this, it appears that these two persons were one.
