Changes and Edits on Journalism Article

[edit]

According to this article, journalism is defined as "production and distribution of reports on the interaction of events, facts, ideas, and people that are the news of the day, and that impacts society to at least some degree". The word "journalism" applies to many different ideas, such as: professional occupation, methods of gathering information, and the organizing literary styles.

This article is split up into different categories: background, production, forms, history, and the role of journalism. Out of all the categories, I would most likely change the "forms" category. Although it includes a list of all the different forms of journalism, it lacks a lot of important information. If I could add information to this article, I would include more background information on the different forms of journalism, meaning a separate category for each form of journalism, explaining what they are or what they offer to a better extent. In addition to the "forms of journalism" category, I would also like to expand on the "role of journalism" category. According to the article, the role of journalism has undergone significant changes over the years. When the article mentions some of those changes, it lacks length, meaning there could be more information added in order to get the reader more engaged on the topic of the different "roles of journalism".

Although there are many categories, if I could make changes to the article, I would like to add two more categories in order to provide more information for the reader. The two categories I would like to add are "Journalism as a Career" and "Journalism Today". If I were to add "Journalism as a Career" as a category, this article would offer a different view on journalism as an overall topic to learn. Some people, like myself, are curious to see how it would be to be a journalist in today's society. This then translates into the category of "Journalism Today". For example, one thing that people would like to learn about is how successful it would be to hold a journalist position in today's society. In addition, some people are curious what type of route you have to take in order to become a journalist in the near future.

Like I mentioned above, I chose to research the topic of "Journalism" because I currently am looking to hold a job in the journalism or broadcasting field. Before reading this article, I had no idea there were as many forms of journalism as there are. Although I would like to make all the changes and edits I listed above, I still believe that the original article still was able to engage me as a reader and allowed me to learn a lot of new information about journalism as an overall topic.

Bibliography on Journalism Article

[edit]

As I read the article about Journalism, all the information given seemed to be very interesting and easy to comprehend. The article is not very long and contains mostly prevalent information when it comes to journalism. This article discusses information such as the background, different forms, history, and professional and ethical standards of journalism.

Now that I have read the article on journalism, I feel like there can be a section added to the article that contains information about journalism in today's society and how to begin a journalism career. Becoming a sports journalist or sports broadcaster is currently a future job I want to hold along with other people around the world. "Journalism as a Career" and "Journalism Today" are two examples of sections I would like to add to the main article.
