Welcome
[edit]How are you (apa kabar) Davidelit/Archive1? And welcome to Wikipedia! Just to let you know, at the Indonesian WikiProject there are a group of editors collaborating to improve the articles related to Indonesia. We hope you can join us to make the project even better!
Here are some Indonesia-related project resources which may be of use:
Hope you find these useful. If not you can improve them, it's Wikipedia!
Okay, happy editing and take care.
cheers -- Imoeng 03:09, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Not sure what you're talking about. Don't remember anything about moving vandalism from Supersemar. All I remember doing today was fixing up the spelling for Amirmachmud's name so that it can be linked to the biography of him that I finished today.Jakman 10:32, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Pranoto Reksosamudra's political stance? I think he's "Left" but Sukarno left (Nasakom) not Communist Left. You're spot on about Suharto labelling him a Communist and if you don't know already, Suharto has a grudge against Pranoto. As the story goes, Suharto was the Commander of the Diponegoro Division with Pranoto as his Chief of Staff. There seemed to be nothing wrong with these two until Pranoto decided to report Suharto's corruption to the Army HQ. Suharto was then removed as Commander and there was a chance that he was going to be expelled from the Army. Luckily for him, Suharto wasn't expelled, however he began holding a grudge against Pranoto. If you look on the internet, there's an article written by Pranoto telling of his account on 1st October, Pranoto actually supported Suharto in what he did. However, Suharto would turn around and arrest him in 1966. Thanks for the compliments about the Amirmachmud and M Jusuf article. Now I'm looking for Basuki Rahmat, but finding information about him is a pain in the butt. I got all the info I need on Basuki's involvement with 1st October and Supersemar but that's about it.Jakman 09:10, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
That's a good start. I'll write what I can about Basuki, and then you can fill in the blanks. Send me the scanned page to gooner_316@yahoo.com.au thanks. Jakman 22:01, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi: thanks for that. I will insert it when I have finished counting all the brackets. The reason for including the Constituent Assembly under parliamentary elections is that CAs are parliaments of sorts, and it would be a bit pointless and space consuming to have a separate section just for one election.
As for calling the section "parliamentary" elections, they are elections for the Indonesian parliament - a parliament is still a parliament whether there is an executive president or not. If you are still bothered, you can change it to "Indonesian legislative elections", but I think it's possible that more people understand parliamentary than legislative.
With regards to pendancy/pedantry, you are right. Although there are plenty of references to it on a Google search, it doesn't appear to be in the dictionary, so I will humbly admit I was wrong and change my userpage :) Number 57 21:17, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- I would go for a separate article for each election; even if it is just a table of the votes, a brief bit of info about the candidates, and the actions of the president/parliament during that term (many of the Israeli election articles I wrote are like this - see Israeli legislative election, 1961). With regards to Israeli relations with the Muslim world, it is a good idea for an article. There is a brief bit at Muslim world#Conflicts with Israel, but it could be expanded to full country-by-country piece - relations differ between almost all countries, from totally normal (Turkey), cold recognition (Egypt, Jordan, Mauritania), semi-recognition (Qatar), slight recognition and signs of acceptance (Saudi Arabia) to downright hostility (Iran - which was, prior to 1979, Israel's only ally in the ME!). Hello everybody. I’ve updated the current Indonesia collaboration to > > > Central Java < < <

- The next collaboration...
For the next collaboration in a fortnight, I’d like to try something different. Let’s chose a stub rather than an already well-developed article. Here is a list of Indonesian stubs to choose (there’s two pages). Please check the article's importance rating – let's chose an important and significant article that will appeal to a broad range of people. Please do not choose an obscure and/or esoteric topic that is not very important. Please place your nomination here.

- Davidelit, I think we should not comment/reply on Proudlyhumble07's message as (s)he is only trolling here. Look to what he replied to your message at Talk:Sukarno. His created category of Indonesian collaborationists has been deleted. Soon he will get blocked, but please do not take his bait. Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 12:43, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

This is necessary - once - for the benefit of 'the community' rather than the troll. After that, we know he is not going to stop, so Indon is correct: just ignore it. Antivandal messages
[edit]Hi David, I've just butt into Anthony.Bradbury's talk page and read your message, you can give out any warning template you want :-) uw-test4 is classed as a final warning, so if you give that out, and they continue to vandalise you can then report them at WP:AIV. It's best to try and escalate the warnings appropriately (uw-test1, uw-test2, uw-test3 then uw-test4) - Hope that helps! Ryan Postlethwaite 09:47, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Vandal warning
[edit]You are allowed to add warnings such as {{test1}}, {{test2}}, {{test3}} and {{test4}}. Do not forget the "subst" prefix. But if you insert a final warning it is better, although admittedly not compulsory, if you follow through by placing a note in WP:AIV in the event of further vandalism by the warned editor. You will find a comprehensive list of warning messages of varying degrees of firmness in the WP:TEMPLATE section. It is not set-in-stone policy, but it is usual to give four warnings before a block. This does not necessarily apply in the cases of offensive vandalism, personal attack, user-page vandalism or legal threat, and initiative in deciding when to go to WP:AIV is not frowned on.--Anthony.bradbury 10:26, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Singers
[edit]Is it possible for you to pass the word among your local wiki editors that a singer who has appeared in a programme called "Indonesian Idol" is not made thereby notable? I am working my socks off deleting these articles.--Anthony.bradbury 17:38, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Sockpuppets
[edit]Jonny89 is already blocked as a sockpuppet of User:JJonathan. Olhamjonnyp is a likely sock, but I cannot yet tell from his edits. Inference is not enough, but it may be a race to see if he gets blocked first for vandalism or for sockpuppetry.--Anthony.bradbury 14:01, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- No further edits since my warning to him.--Anthony.bradbury 20:37, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Change of seasons?
[edit]No idea really, that's an Australian IP. It's the first 'cold' week of our 'winter'. So maybe the vandals are all twitchy, spooked even. Actually, it might also be because indonesia is up for FAC. Merbabu 08:34, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- Actually for a brief time today there was at the top of the page - dont do what they say on tv - or words to that effect - so its likely that some clever american comedian has told tv watchers to vandalise wikipedia again (it had happened before) SatuSuro 09:32, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi again. I've just spotted this page: Round Table Conference (Western New Guinea). It only covers the issues related to Papua, but there is some useful information. It seems to me the best approach would be to merge the two articles, but I think "Dutch-Indonesian Round Table Conference" would be a better title. Any thoughts? Davidelit 16:45, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, good idea. This article should be merged into your new article as a section. The only problem, it seems to be poorly referenced. Merbabu 17:01, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- I put my reasoning there - you should too. I reckon we do it within a few days provided there is not significant opposition. We should put a note on the Indonesia board too. Merbabu 10:07, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

KBRI
[edit](Copied fromn User talk:DESiegel) Hi there. You reverted my speedy delete taggings for KBRI and KJRI. I placed them there (although I now thing perhaps a PROD would have been better) because they are Indonesian abbreviations for English words. If these pages stand, logically there should be pages for all languages' words for Embassy and Consulate. I have added these two abbreviations to List of Indonesian acronyms and abbreviations. Would it be rude (to you or the original author) if I tagged them for deletion again? Regards. Davidelit 17:01, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- That might well be a plausible reason for the pages not to exist. It is not, IMO, a good reason for speedy deletion. None of the speedy criteria seem to be met. Feel free to tag them for WP:PROD or for AfD. That will give time for any intersted editor to give reasons why the articles should not be deleted, if there are in fact any such reasons. If not, in a few ddasy the articles will be gone. DES (talk) 17:08, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- You are welcome. There is a lot of that going around, enough that I created {{Speedy-Warn}}. DES (talk) 17:16, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Missing image Image:Guded Democracy.svg
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Guded Democracy.svg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Guded Democracy.svg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Guded Democracy.svg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Hi David. Thanks for your additions to the article. Is it possible to get in-line cites in there though?. let me know if I can help. Thanks. --Merbabu 08:34, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, no, no - I don't want you to stop doing any work!!! Maybe, as you enter the info just drop the author's name and page number into the edit summary, and I can fix them up. Alternatively, you can learn how to do it. :-) But I'm not too good at explaining thru talk pages...
- Let's deal first with the case where you use on reference (say the Theodore Friend book I used). Write the whole cite once in full using the WP:CITET templates in the general section. Then, each time you put in an in-line, we want the list of footnotes to show "Friend (2003), page 533". Further, if page 533 (for example) is used multiple times, then we can make this appear as one footnote - see the list at the bottom. To do this, we just write the ref in full once with a 'name' for the ref in inverted commas, ie :"FRIENDS_532", thus write for the first time:
- <ref name="FRIENDS_532">Friend (2003), page 532</ref>
- Then, all subsequent uses of the same ref simply add:
- <ref name="FRIENDS_532"/> being very careful not to forget the "/" (forward slash) in the subsequent use (but not the first use). See this as an example.
- Clear as mud? If you can't get it working, or can't be bothered, just put the main ref in the general ref section as you have done previously, and when you put the actual info in, put the author and page number in the edit summary for me and I can pick it up. Whatever happens, I don't want to stop you getting the info in. cheers --Merbabu 03:08, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Nice work. The SEKNEG refs look fine, but you've forgotten to define FEITH. eg, for FEITH you need to do what you did for SEKNEG: <ref name="SEKNEG_2">Sekretariat Negara Republik Indonesia (1975)</ref>. cheers. --Merbabu 06:06, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
I've made a few changes to both the Liberal Period and Guided Democracy pages. You might want to check them. Yes, Lonely Planet is not ideal, but it's nice and concise and is better than as a temporary fix where info or cites are missing. Please check. Also, I'm working on History of Indonesia. Members
[edit]I think for the moment it's all right with that word. I've tried to search other words: 'constituents', 'supporters', 'participants', etc., but can't find more appropriate one than 'members'. — Indon (reply) — 09:16, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

What the?re: article Hendro Subroto?
[edit]Where the hell do you get off? What the hell do you know- you do realise he is the most important man of the DPRD-DKI responsible for BILLIONS of dollars?
personal info removed Surely the relative of politicians knows something a little more substantial than an English teacher?
And what were your technical qualifications/sources again re: Stealth technology and Jakarta elections, by the way? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Starstylers (talk • contribs)
- uncivil and personal information removed by Gnangarra, Starstylers (talk · contribs) has been advised of normal etiquette for wikipedia. Also I removed the Prod notice from the article and suggest that it should go through AfD as politicans can be borderline notability cases. Also I've offer to work with Starstylers to clean the article up. Gnangarra 13:06, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

re: article Hendro Subroto?
[edit]Why are these supposed 'experts' (noting their total lack of formal or informal qualifications and or experience) on Indonesian politics and or history being so pettily precious? I aim not to interfere with their material nor to invalidate it?
So what's the frickin' problem? I point out my degrees both outrank most others' in terms of rank, academic weight and Institutional prestige. Furthermore I argue any and all contributions I have made to date are far more worthy of serious academic study than the triva et esoteria ad nauseum one encoutners all too frequently on Wikipedia- most especially crap about some slut porno star.
I give notice of intent to include the academically justifiable and Wiki-guideline justified entries on prominent current and historical figures of the DPRD-DKI, which has been the subject of at least 2 university monographs (Monash University, South East Asian studies), not to mention Australian government publications as intercepted by Badan Intel Negara (BIN)- Indonesian Intelligence.Starstylers 19:01, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Omar Dhani
[edit]Thanks for correcting my error. I notice that the article currently reads "Air Force Lieutenant Omar Dhani ...". Shouldn't this be "Lieutenant General Omar Dhani ...", "Air Marshal Omar Dhani ..." or something like that? Greenshed 14:00, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Indonesia
[edit]Hi David,
You might want to add in those specifics of the pronunciation of Indonesia. There's a lot of variation as to how -sia is pronounced in every country name; I was more concerned with just getting it in the ballpark, and keeping it consistant with the IPA chart linked to the {{IPAEng}} template. (I never spoke English in Indonesia, so I don't know how it's pronounced locally except in Malay.) Check the IPA link; an {{IPA2}} template would be appropriate for a narrow transcription like /zɪjə/, if you think the difference from /ziːə/ is worth noting. kwami 22:35, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
