Welcome
[edit]Dear David,
Welcome here. As you probably know, we already have quite a bit of material on mathematics. However, most of it can easily be improved, so we always need more editors. The article on numerical stability is a case in point; I definitely agree with your comments on the talk page and I hope you will find the time and energy to improve it, now term time is over. If you haven't already found it, you might be interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics. Feel free to ask me any questions on User talk:Jitse Niesen.
I am looking forward to your contributions,
Jitse Niesen (talk) 10:10, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
Small fix
[edit]Hi David,
I fixed your entry in Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics/Participants (you forgot to substitute for USERNAME in one place). --Trovatore 07:19, 18 July 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, I apologize for the oversight. --David Dumas 07:23, 18 July 2005 (UTC)
Thurston's classification theorem
[edit]I enjoyed your article on Thurston's classification thm. Adding big chunks of content (and making it look good with the markup limitations) is hard work. Thanks. XaosBits 17:06, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, it took a lot longer than I thought when I started, but I enjoyed it. It's good to know someone has seen it.--David Dumas 19:35, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
Nice work! I enjoyed reading it also. It's always good to have a specialist contribute his/her knowledge. Anyway, I added some comments to the talk page about the naming, if you're interested.
Also, I added your name to a list of low-dimensional topology related folks who edit(ed) Wikipedia. See my user page. If you know any others, please add their names also! --C S 00:50, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Skinning maps
[edit]Hi,
I assume you are the same D Dumas who is the author of a proof that skinnng maps are not constant. Care to write an article defining a skinning map? linas 17:13, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I'll consider this. --David Dumas 13:17, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
