Welcome DashDashUnderscore!

Hello DashDashUnderscore. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Tazuco, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
  Introduction to Wikipedia
  The five pillars of Wikipedia
  Editing tutorial
  How to edit a page
  Simplified Manual of Style
  The basics of Wikicode
  How to develop an article
  How to create an article
  Help pages
  What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
  Do be bold
  Do assume good faith
  Do be civil
  Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
  Don't spam
  Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
  Don't commit vandalism
  Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
  Ask a question
or you can:
  Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
  Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
  Help contribute to articles
  Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
  Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost
Translate articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, — Tazuco 22:54, 11 June 2022 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)[reply]

Minor edit flag

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your improvements to Vasectomy. Just a small heads up that edits that involve material changes to the content of an article (e.g. this or this) should not be marked as minor edits. That flag should typically only be used for 'housekeeping' edits (e.g. fixes to spelling or formatting). Cheers. Colin M (talk) 17:40, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That makes sense, I will follow that going forward. Thanks. DashDashUnderscore (talk) 17:59, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was taking about a problem I am working on with the Kidney trade in Iran page. I don't understand how it is being interpreted as personal hosting? I believe that is a legitimate use of a user page.
It could have been worded better and I planned on revisiting it to improve. DashDashUnderscore (talk) 00:21, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Anthony Bradbury It seems I'm unlikely to get a response from @Ruy. Could you give me an indication to the specific problem I had with my old user page?
I have read guidance on content policies on user pages and I understand the stated reason was for using it as web hosting. I don't get what was wrong with it. My guess is that I said I was curious about aa specific thing which might have seemed blog-y but I don't think that is a huge deviation from the user pages where interested in subjects are stated.
I want to get to the bottom of this before re-creating my user page again.
Thanks, DashDashUnderscore (talk) 16:17, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
DashDashUnderscore: You can't use your userpage for writing articles, use your sandbox. P.D. Please use {{ping}} if you want a reply. Regards Ruy (talk) 16:29, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ruy I definitely didn't use my user page for writing any articles. DashDashUnderscore (talk) 16:57, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ruy It was a one or two paragraph page of my first draft of my user page. It wasn't in the style of an article. DashDashUnderscore (talk) 13:17, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
