Re: Screenshots

[edit]

No. Our image fair-use policy (based on United States copyright law) prevents usage of copyrighted pictures anywhere other than articles, and only then under certain conditions. And, of course, you can't take a picture of something copyrighted and claim it as your own, since it is a derivative of a copyrighted work.

The full list of what's required for using copyrighted images is here. Grandmasterka 20:58, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime. As for making your talk page more decorative, I'm not really the person to ask... The way I beautified my main userpage was by copying other peoples' userpage features and tweaking and experimenting with them. Unless I'm misunderstanding your question. List of tall men

[edit]

Hi. Yes of course 6 ft 4 is tall I'm 194cm which is way above most -but I know some people who are your height (now that is very tall indeed) and above. I am judging by past discussions when people insisted that there were too many 6'4 guys out there and that 6 ft 5 or 6 ft 6 was a better cut off point. The list of 6'4 guys is massive while less people appear to be 6'5 and above. I don't have any problems with you restoring it but I just didn't want to see the discussion brought up again and again - you know the article has been up for deletion about 6 times previously. Definately not 6'3 . I think most medical records and charts and stuff go up to 6 ft 4. But again it brings up the POV issue of what is tall? When I was younger I used to think of 6 ft as tall, but when you pass it you start to think differently and start to consider 5 ft 9 as tiny. If we go by this as average I think 6 '4 is a reasonable cut off point. ♦ King of Baldness ♦ "Talk"? 20:51, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I mean there are people like Clint Eastwood and John Wayne who were considered giants in their hey day who were both around 194cm at their peak but a list that starts at 6 '5 wou;dn;t register them. The thing is if 6'4 was the cut of point the list would grow out of hand ♦ King of Baldness ♦ "Talk"? 21:00, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Clint Eastwood and John Wayne were 6' 4" (1,93 m). And 6' 4" was their peak height. D@rk K 01:51, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are you kidding me? I'm 6ft 4 1/2 and think I'm way to tall, I stand out quite a bit in crowds. I'd rather be a bit shorter around 6 '2. 6 '6' is huge massive . A friend of mine is a skinny 6 ft 7 looks a bit lik ePeter Crouch and he was always laughed at for being too tall!! Are you looking for a place in the NBA or something. Wow! ♦ King of Baldness ♦ "Talk"? 23:04, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored what was there before but I'm telling you the 6 4 list will be too long ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:48, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

Metallica

[edit]

The german article says latter metallica has blues influences. The genre section is not meant to contain influences. Nothing Else Matters has no blues influences whatsoever, the albums Load an Reload have blues-rock influences. Metallica has never recorded any blues song so it is inaccurate to have blues in the infobox. Kameejl (Talk) 16:04, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Sergeant Kelly, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Sergeant_Kelly. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Electrical Storm

[edit]

Hi. I see that you've reverted my edit to this article again and you added a link beside rock. Well, but I can't find the link you've added. D@rk talk 10:59, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's because there was no reference template included in the article. I've added the template, and you should be able to get to the link fine now, although if you wish to change it to Alternative again you will need to provide a source of your own. Reggae

[edit]

You could try here [1] but it seems like you are looking for a particular song and they may not be able to help with that. Otherwise, you could also ask at Talk:Reggae, but I think you will need more detail. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 22:27, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your answer. Well, I'll leave a new message if I'll have enough time. My life is rather stressy. D@rk talk 22:56, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your msg. abt image on my talk page

[edit]

Hi, u had asked me if u cd upload ur image so as to display it on the userpage. While there has not been a policy that allows such uploading to the best of my knowledge, several editors in good standing have indeed displayed their image on their userpages. So, you too can do so provided you release that image under a free license. --Gurubrahma (talk) 15:41, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice. I'll add an image if I have time. D@rk talk 16:00, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of AFD template

[edit]

Please note that it is absolutely unacceptable to remove AFD tags from articles as you did for Darth Malak. These tags are in place to notify the public that an Articles For Deletion discussion is taking place, and to invite users to provide their views/input there. If you wish to voice your opinion on this debate, please go to the AFD page linked in the template. Please not beforehand that the argument that this character is inherently notable due to the notability of the game has already been made multiple times and that argument is not valid because notability is not inherited from one subject to another.--Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 21:05, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you provide a citation for Ultimate Race? I can't find anything with a quick Google search. Cheers, Miremare 19:17, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimate Race Pro seems to be by Atari rather than Rare, and to the best of my knowledge Rare has never developed any PC games. Perhaps you're thinking of something else? Miremare 22:27, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh shit! I was mistaken. I read List of Race games instead of List of Rare games. D@rk talk 11:44, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, OK. :) Miremare 17:59, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want this article to have a chance to stay, you'll have to make a link from some article (the singers?), preferably more than one, to it. Right now it reads "No pages link to Sébé Allah Y'é". Twerbrou (talk) 09:43, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's already been tagged as "unneeded", so you best hurry. You'll need to make a change to the article about the singers, in which this song features impotantly. Only if you can do that, this article has a right to exist.Twerbrou (talk) 09:51, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know them. Like I said: if you cannot make your own good argumentation why this article is needed, it'll get deleted. The easiest way is to mention on the singers' page what's the importance of this song. IF you don't understand this, you could look at how songs are introduced at other singers' pages (f.e. just random ones: The Beatles, Queen, Filip Kowlier, ABBA, AC/DC). This is my final word about this. Sorry. Twerbrou (talk) 09:56, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That should be enough. If it's still online by tomorrow, it'll probably remain that way. Good luck. Twerbrou (talk) 09:59, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Sébé Allah Y'é, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Sébé Allah Y'é. JD554 (talk) 10:12, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding these tags. I already added a link to the main article of Alpha Blondy about this song. Your opinion is irrelevant and there are also short songs like Dreadlock Holiday who are accepted. For further arguments, please go to the talk page of Sébé Allah Y'é. D@rk talk 10:15, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Sébé Allah Y'é

[edit]

I have nominated Sébé Allah Y'é, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sébé Allah Y'é. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. JD554 (talk) 10:20, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look to Ghetto (Akon song) too. These articles are also created and accepted too. Please let my created song article exist. D@rk talk 10:26, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And one more thing to know. If this article will get deleted, I'm gonna leave Wikipedia at once. D@rk talk 10:30, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

January 2008

[edit]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Sébé Allah Y'é. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. --JD554 (talk) 10:34, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I already left a comment. I think, an admin should make the choice of this article being deleted or not. D@rk talk 10:35, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's what the AfD is for. The place for discussing the issue is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sébé Allah Y'é. --JD554 (talk) 10:38, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, my offer: If this article still exists after 24 hours, I'm gonna remove this tag. If this article will be deleted, I'm gonna stop editing Wikipedia forever. D@rk talk 10:40, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you remove Articles for deletion notices or comments from articles and Articles for deletion pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --JD554 (talk) 10:44, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How AfDs work

[edit]

Ok, you obviously need an explanation on how AfDs work, as you seem to have a misunderstanding on them. AfD templates are not like speedy templates. Speedy deletion templates can be removed by any user who is not the creator of the article. AfD templates can only be removed after a deletion discussion is CLOSED. While it is ongoing you are only serving to damage the discussion and make it more likely that the article will be deleted (since anyone reading the article will not see that there is a discussion going on). If you think the article should stay, it is in your best interest to simply go to the article's deletion page, which is linked in the template, and state why you think the article should be kept. --Oni Ookami AlfadorTalk|@ 13:53, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't get angry but there are points on Wikipedia which I don't understand. And also one of the biggest problems are that English is not my main language. I could also create an account somewhere else, in a different Wikipedia language but I don't do this because there are less articles. The English Wikipedia contains a huge number of articles and that's why I find the English Wikipedia fascinating. D@rk talk 17:33, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My userpage

[edit]

In short, no. Not in the way you've done at least anyway. The image is used under a fair use licence, which means it can only be used within the article space of the encyclopedia and only within the articles that are listed on the image description page itself. The remainder of your userpage, which appears to be a direct lift of the entire Kyle Katarn article, must be credited to Wikipedia as per GFDL licence conditions. I'm afraid you'll need to refine your userpage to comply. See Wikipedia:User page for a lot more information on what is and what isn't permitted regarding a userpage. Hope this helps. -- Longhair\talk 21:36, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I have difficulties to make my userpage beautifull like other users. D@rk talk 21:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are permitted to borrow ideas from other userpages. If you see one you like, click edit, glance over the code, and begin to build your own. It's that easy. -- Longhair\talk 21:41, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, got it. Thanks for your advice. D@rk talk 21:43, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted your userpage for you, as per your request. Feel free to let me know if you require any other assistance. -- Longhair\talk 22:03, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much. D@rk talk 22:05, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption?

[edit]

Hi Dark Kyle,

I noticed you've been having a bit of a rough day on the Wiki. Since the learning curve can be a little bit steep here, we've implemented the adopt-a-user program, which pairs an experienced editor with a relatively new editor who wants to learn more. I'm a participant in that program, and so if you'd like I'd be more than willing to adopt you and show you the ropes. Naturally, if you'd prefer to choose someone else from the list of users willing to adopt, you are more than welcome to do so. Thanks! --jonny-mt 04:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
