Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Solar panel. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. McGeddon (talk) 11:38, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Danmartin555. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.--McGeddon (talk) 11:39, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked IP

Request reason:

Caught by a colocation web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. My IP address is 85.115.53.202. Please can you unblock this IP and my work IP which I will update tomorrow. Danmartin555 (talk) 13:48, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

That IP address belongs to Forcepoint Cloud. You'll need to stop using this proxy and wait a full 24 hours for the block to clear. Yamla (talk) 15:31, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Hi thanks for your response however - I don't use a proxy. My ISP is NowTV (in the UK) if there is a proxy it may be them - I have no idea how to check that. I also tried to log in at my employer's and got the same message of blocked IP.Danmartin555 (talk) 18:00, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you are editing from desktop computers, those are probably two different blocks; employers often use proxies for security purposes. If you are editing from a mobile device in both places, you may have picked up your employer's block and what Yamla said above will work. Otherwise, you will need to contact your ISP. 331dot (talk) 19:19, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi, thanks for the information. It was my works computer blocking as your rightly said. On my personal laptop and mobile it should be ok? Please can you check now? Danmartin555 (talk) 08:29, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Danmartin555 (talk) 08:32, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Given that your edits to this point have been spam, the reason why you're running into problems editing is probably because of our anti-spam defenses. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 01:00, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We can't check this for you- have you attempted to edit a page other than this one? You can make a test edit in the WP:SANDBOX. 331dot (talk) 18:31, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello - NinjaRobotPirate I understand that from almost 10 years ago that link was classed as spam, I have not edited anything since. However, the reason for me wanting to create a page for my employer CEF just as other competitors in the same industry have done and as the company has been around for 71 years it seems odd they don't have a Wikipedia page to themselves. My issue with the IP block should be solved as my work laptop has ForceCloud, which is what the block was, but as I'm using my personal computer at home, this should be solved now? The IP block is the only issue here in 2022 as previous issue was in 2013. Danmartin555 (talk) 08:53, 18 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline as you're not blocked directly (but we all knew that). At this point I would suggest that instead of doing this dancing around in a circle, you take the alternative route of going to WP:IPECPROXY and following the instructions there to request IP block exemption, which would moot this as a problem. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:26, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
