Python molurus bivittatus
[edit]Is the correct scientific name for the Burmese python (it is a subspecies of the Indian Python, Python molurus molurus). For some reason you had listed the scientific name of the burmese python as Morelia boelini which is actually the scientific name for the Boelens Python. --Diablorex 18:39, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Moving images to the commons
[edit]I have a number of images in the wikipedia namespace that I would like to move to the commons namespace. Is it possible to do it automatically, or should I manually do it, that is save a copy on my machine, upload it on the commons, delete them from wikipedia and make sure the links all work ? Danleo 02:13, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- For now, check out Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. The main problem in moving images is that many are licensed in a way that requires us to preserve edit histories. As a result, we don't have a good tool to automatically transfer everything over to Commons at once.
- Your existing non-Commons contributions (those of Camaguey, Ignacio Agramonte, mud jars, and the HMCS Nipigon photos) aren't licensed correctly in the first place, though. Wikipedia does not allow photos to be licensed under a non-commercial use only license, and it is possible that they will eventually be deleted. However, if these images are yours and you'd like to upload them under a free license, I'd recommend the taking following steps:
- Reupload them to Commons under the same name under a free license (it looks like you've been using CC recently).
- Slap a {{NCT}} tag on the existing Wikipedia image if the new version has the same name, or {{NowCommons}} if you've changed the name.
- Since these images were contributed by you under a non-free license in the first place, go ahead and list them at WP:IFD, and an administrator would most likely be happy to delete the originals for you.
- Let me know if you have any more questions. — Rebelguys2 talk 02:58, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- It'd be easiest to simply reupload the image and place {{db|Uploaded twice, same image as [[:Image:Bettername.jpg]]. ~~~~}} on the image you'd like to delete, replacing, of course, Bettername.jpg with the name of your new image. — Rebelguys2 talk 18:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Well done Cape Fear Serpentarium images
[edit]Very nice pictures of our snakes. I did a bit of editing on the images to add the correct scientific names. Well done!
Boeing 747 restaurant in Seoul
[edit]May you tell me the exact location of this restaurant and describe it briefly? Thanks--Mungs (talk) 04:18, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hello Mungs. I don't remember the exact location but I do remember how I got there. Start here on Google Maps (I came in on the highway going north then I exited to get to point A) At this point, I went eastward and continued on. I don't know how far I went but the restaurant was on the right side of the road and quite visible. My goal at that time was to reach the Gapyeong Canada Monument. I can't pinpoint on the map because I think the restaurant is in the part were Google has no sattelite images.
- I know that the restaurant is selling Naengmyeon (noodle soaked by cold water), btw, thanks for your data and I may ask my korean friends--Mungs (talk) 13:39, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
copyright for 2 images of B-17
[edit]Hi Danleo,
I am planing to publish a book about the great aircraft B-17 Flying Fortress in Germany in German as there is rare information in the German. I like the picture of the ball turret and of the inside of the B-17.
I saw that you publish your images under a so called GNU-license. This is only valid for software purposes. So I'll need your permission to publish it in my book. (I haven't started yet)
Of course I will put your Name under the image if you want. ( Danleo is not your real name I guess?)
Thank you in advance for your answer.
