Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I have reverted your recent edit to Nancy Regan as the image you added to the article has not been uploaded to Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Commons. You may wish to do so here via the files for upload process, or you may choose to create an account and upload your image via the Commons Upload Wizard; however, I would advise you to read our information page on uploading images to Wikipedia, as well as the Commons' guide to uploading before you upload. Feel free to reply below, or post a message on my talk page if you have any questions. Thank you! lavender|(formerly HMSSolent)|lambast 03:53, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Nancyreagan.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nancyreagan.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 04:00, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Nancy Regan photograph that you uploaded to Wikipedia is under copyright and cannot be used, per the actual photo credit from The Guardian article that the image appears in: See "Nancy Reagan in London in 1989. Photograph: Daily Mail/Rex/Shutterstock" at The Guardian profile: Nancy Reagan. Shearonink (talk) 17:41, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Nancyreagan.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/jun/11/usa.suzannegoldenberg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Images instructions

[edit]

To use a picture on Wikipedia, we need permission from whoever owns it.

  • If it is your OWN image - meaning you created it yourself (not, for example, from a book or magazine you happen to own) - then you can just upload it at "Commons", saying "It is entirely my own work" - see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Upload .
  • If it is NOT YOURS, and you are uploading it straight onto Wikipedia without checking about the image's copyright status - Stop. Seriously...please stop. Wikipedia cannot use it. Wikipedia cannot use images that are just taken off of other sources on the internet, we take copyright & people's ownership of their own work - like photos - very seriously. Refer to Guidelines for images for a short summation & explanation of these guidelines.
  • If it is NOT YOURS, and you are in contact with the image's owner, then the owner can give permission in two ways;
A) They could put it on a website (flickr, or their own site) with an appropriate licence, such as "Public Domain" or "Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike" (that is an option in flickr)
B) They could email us permission. You could ask them to do that, by sending them an email saying something like:
"Hi, I've written a page on Wikipedia, and I'd really like to add a picture - but as Wikipedia is FREE, we can only use freely-licensed pictures. If you have any images which you can give permission for, please send me an email back with the text below, and the picture(s) attached."
-Then add a copy of this: http://enwp.org/user:chzz/help/myboilerplate (having filled the form out)
-And send the email (attached picture file + completed form) to: permissions-commons@wikimedia.org

Orphaned non-free image File:Lincolngardner.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Lincolngardner.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:48, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources

[edit]

Hi,

I reverted your additions to the 2024 United States presidential election article, because they lacked WP:Reliable sources. Thanks, David O. Johnson (talk) 20:13, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
