Removing Speedy at Daniel and the Rum Runners
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Daniel and the Rum Runners, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 17:36, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Advice
[edit]- Read WP:your first article
- Read WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest. This is a serious worry for Wikipedia: "anyone can edit" gives us access to enormous amounts of effort and expertise, but also lets in a flood of self-promoters and spammers, and if they are not resisted Wikipedia will rapidly turn into another Myspace. So what you should do is, make your draft article in your user space - see Help:Userspace draft for how to do that - and then do not post it yourself but submit it at WP:Articles for creation to let someone uninvolved decide - either it will be accepted or you will be given feedback.
- You need independent references. The general notability requirement is to show "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The more specific criteria for a band are at WP:BAND.
- Take great care to avoid anything in the slightest promotional in your language. Wikipedia has a policy of WP:Verifiability which "requires that all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged be attributed to a reliable, published source." When you are about to write a glowing adjective, imagine a hostile critic looking over your shoulder saying "Who says so? Can you prove it?" Read WP:PEACOCK. The reader of an encyclopedia article should not get any sense of whether the author is in favour of his subject or not.
