[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hendrick Avercamp, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kampen. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Baronets
[edit]Hi, thought I'd just leave a note here because I've undone a little of your work. Baronets are not peers, nor are they barons. A baronetage is a hereditary title, but it comes/came with no privileges as a peer would have; they are titled commoners. Thanks, Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 19:06, 27 May 2022 (UTC)

Vathek
[edit]Sorry that I reverted your edit again. I don't think the source added improves much, because it picks one of various possible meanings for "divs". I felt kind of bad, for reverting your edits twice in a row, and wanted to assure it is not personal. I think the supernatural creatures in islam are often pretty confusing and Muslim sources themselves are often not consistent either (probably because there is no clergy which could rule out and canonize Islamic spiritual teachings, as in Christian angelology for example, and the clerics which exist, usually deal with legal matters). I think, however, you pointed out something important, there is no source prooving how the divs are depicted in Vathek! I added a "citation needed-tag" instead. Thanks for pointing it out the divs could also be a translation of "evil jinn".--VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 00:02, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- I found a book adding a brief explanation for several things in the book, such as Genii, Afrit, Eblis. Unfortunately, Divs (here: dives) are not among them, although they apear throughout the work. For example, the afrit are a category of dives. Or the divs are said to have been chained by jann ibn jann (the father of the jinn-race). VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 00:32, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- I actually forgot to link the source yesterday, sorry: "Vathek
- An Arabian Tale
- Von William Beckford, Matthew Gregory Lewis, William Beckford, Matthew Gregory Lewis · 1834" I found it on Google Books. VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 10:00, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Oh I see, no problem, the reason why I edited at first was because I felt the statement "Divs prevailed in Muslim beliefs until the Salafi Reform movement" was a strong accusation and needed a citation, I tried to find one but couldn't so the next best thing was to provide a different statement that was cited. In your final edit, I liked that you also removed the "Salafi Reform" mention. So I feel the article is better now (although someone should include a citation for jinn/div statement if possible), and that's what all we editors want (to improve the article). But thanks for reassuring me. I wont be editing the article further, I'll leave that to someone else. Have a good one. By the way, your Ifrit article is very interesting! Danial Bass (talk) 09:41, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliment on the Ifrit article. (I was remembered of that one when the tale referred to an afrit as a type of "div" (Angran Div is called an ifrit in the article). Yes, the accusation on Salafism sounds too passive aggressive for an encyclopedia. It is that Salafism is known for reforming the belief in spirits, however it doesnÄt need to be pushed unnecessarily. People who are interested in "div" can just go to the corresponding article. I gave a possible sourc,e but since you won't edit any further, it is probably unneccessary. I wanted to offer it nontheless. VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 10:04, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Thefamouspeople as a reference
[edit]Hi Danial Bass. I noticed that you used thefamouspeople .com as a reference in Kanaung Mintha[1]. Please note that the general consensus as expressed at WP:RSN is that it does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for such information. I've gone ahead and removed it. If you disagree, let's discuss it. You may want to check WP:RSP and WP:RSN to help determine if a source is reliable. Thanks.--Hipal (talk) 20:56, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Hipal. No, its totally fine, I also felt the source was in a gray area. I checked if the website was in WP:RSP but couldn't find it. I placed it in since the existing content in the article closely mirrors it, I thought it was where the previous editor got it from. That aside, now I'm just wondering, is it fine to leave out the content as unsourced like that? Or is it better to remove it? Thanks Danial Bass (talk) 21:01, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- I suspect it's easily verified. June Rose Bellamy appears to have a verifying reference. --Hipal (talk) 00:52, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
Navigation boxes
[edit]Hi! About this edit, the thing is that these are not categories. They are navigation boxes, a kind of Wikipedia:Navigation template.
Categories start with [[Category:]] while navboxes are enclosed in brackets like {{ }}.
I do not see a section stating that navboxes should be displayed in alphabetical order. The practice I see is to start with the navbox about the subject. Nakano, Tokyo has a navbox entirely about that subject, and so that navbox should be displayed first.
Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 11:33, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

[edit]there is a certain level of bravery required to edit javanese and cirebonese subject areas - you have done well... as the bantul area was my location of research many years ago - I was intrigued to see your deleting the anecdotal item about the coincidence of the height of the giriloyo and imogiri 'platforms' of the graves - without going into my archived material - that is incorrect the ridge the giriloyo grave is on, and the imogiri upper portion are not the same... I think, I can assert that unless proven wrong. Good work anyways!! JarrahTree 10:41, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hey thanks! I edited mostly on grammar/minor ce edits so I'm not that brave haha. But yeah on the the tomb heights, the inclusion of that into an encyclopedia sounded kinda funny to me, so I removed it, and good that you think its incorrect. Cheers! Danial Bass (talk) 10:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your editing, I hope to have a better source re the issue sometime... JarrahTree 11:02, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
separate item
[edit]There is something wrong with the removed sentence. The Ottonian Renaissance did happen and there was plenty of Muslim and Chinese output and I find it strange to emphasize in a way not included on 9th or 8th century. Why do you disagree? Honestly, I think a lot of the century articles could use some work. What do you think? Dayshade (talk) 07:02, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- The removed sentence never disagrees that the renaissance never happened. It just states that it was considered a dark age (relatively) at a point of time by historians and that should be included Danial Bass (talk) 09:21, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Can you get a second source comparing that to the 9th and 8th specifically? I feel like the quote is more referring to it in comparison to the 11th and especially 12th. And what do you think of the century articles in general, as I asked earlier? Dayshade (talk) 10:55, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- There's no need for a second source. The sentence only says that the 10th century can be described as a "Dark Age" and that's it. It doesn't specifically state anything to any other century. In general, I think the pages on the other centuries aren't that bad? There could be some improvements sure like many pages on wiki does Danial Bass (talk) 11:00, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Then why aren't we putting something similar on the 8th and 9th century pages? It is really misleading in the current state where only 10th has it. Dayshade (talk) 11:19, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- You can put it if you want Danial Bass (talk) 11:20, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- What's the best way to get some other comments from more users about this issue? And I think it would be better to remove it from all of them. The Early Middle Ages get a bit maligned unfairly. Dayshade (talk) 11:23, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- How I would do it is that I will just edit it myself and cite it (and to not make overly excessive changes since that can raise alot of editors' eyebrows). So yeah, just add and cite properly. I guess you can also find specific editors who edit alot on history/middle ages/9th century etc and directly ask them. You can also join projects like: Wikipedia:WikiProject Middle Ages - Wikipedia and ask members what they think of and so. Danial Bass (talk) 11:28, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- I think it wouldnt be a good idea to remove mentions of the Dark Ages to the Early Middle Ages, there's certainly some truth to that. Ofcourse that's not taking away the fact that there is alot of cultural renaissance of the period as well. I'd be more balanced Danial Bass (talk) 11:30, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

It appear you consider the unreferenced notice redundant as you have removed them for sections that clearly have no inline citations. I don't understand how you can justify their removal. ww2censor (talk) 23:12, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
- How I see it is when the top of the topmost subheading is tagged/unreferenced notice, then it means that section needs citations. For example, if a tag is below the End of British Rule, then all the subheadings below is being referred to the top tag (so this includes Howth Gun Running 1914, Easter Rising 1916 & War of Independence 1919–21 Danial Bass (talk) 23:22, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
FYI
[edit]I have seen that you interacted with users such as Dasfanda at pages such as History of Islam in China. For your information, they and many other accounts are sockpuppets: see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Milktaco and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Milktaco/Archive. It is likely that any new account making large edits on topics that combine China, Islam, and genetics is also a sockpuppet. I've reverted most of their collective changes, so don't worry about that, but thought I'd let you know in case you see something suspicious in the future. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 01:20, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

Medieval musical instruments
[edit]I appreciate your having looked at the List of European medieval musical instruments. Do you think the images in the tables need to be smaller as well? I am reaching an age where my eyes are changing, which may have dictated my choice of image size. I find that I see them better as they are now, but I am not set on keeping the current sizes. Best wishes, Jacqke (talk) 12:26, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! First of all, your images and the choices you include look great! Its just that its elongating the table and making it hard to scroll through while reading, I dont have a specific answer but the image size on "Bells", "Triangle" or "Cymbals" for example look alright. While the "Vielle" and "Rebec" looks too big. Thanks Danial Bass (talk) 12:34, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
