Airports generally

Hey, Couple of notes 1. Footnotes are fine 2. Can you confirm the source of Image:Santa Cruz Skypark Airport.jpg ? 3. Unfortunately, the page Santa Cruz Sky Park appears to be a copyright violation. Cheers. Burgundavia 06:26, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

Santa Cruz Sky Park

My general feeling on this would be no, but I would email the webmaster of that page and ask them. They would probably be the most informative person. US copyright law, as I understand it (I am a Canadian), is that only US Federal gov stuff is PD, states and other sub-govs can have copyright. Burgundavia 08:44, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)

  • I got word back from the Santa Cruz Public Libraries and received the following:
"You are welcome to use it for your article. Since the document was originally written by an outside consultant, I wasn't clear about the copyright issue, either. I checked with the City Clerk's office and they checked with the City Manager's office. The end result is that ... you have permission to use it. Regards, Donna J. Swedberg, Reference Supervisor, Central Branch Santa Cruz City-County Libraries"
So, what is the proper steps to reinstate the page?
  • You also asked about the photograph of the airport, it was provided to me by an a family member of the deceased photographer. I've let it be known to local pilots and historians that I'm looking for additional images of the former local airports so should have more available here soon. DanDawson 23:06, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Hmm, I am being very picky here, but do they understand the terms that the permission in being granted under? IE, GFDL? Burgundavia 06:32, Apr 21, 2005 (UTC)
      • Yes, they've been shown Wikipedia, links provided to it's use, and encouraged said use to share information with anyone interested. Thanks for the education, I do look forward to getting past this copyvio notice since it's now clear permission was given and I look forward to producing more content on these and other airport pages. Do I remove the copyvio notice or wait until you or another proceedure is completed?
        • Ok, just do the editing on the temp page, and I will do the deletion and move the temp page over. Burgundavia 19:13, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)
      • I has been dealt with. The page looks great, btw. Burgundavia 22:30, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)
  • I spent much of my childhood at Sky Park Airport because my father had a hanger there. My dad was very opposed to the closing of Sky Park and took the metal sign down that announced its closing. I was wondering if the sign would be of interest to anyone? April 16, 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.104.162.142 (talk) 02:01, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
    • I would be very interested in at least photographing the sign (depending on what it actually says) and adding it as a part of the story of the airport.DanDawson (talk) 03:50, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
      • I am in Illinois and I took a pic of the sign, but don't know how to post it here. The sign says, "OFFICIAL NOTICE! SKYPARK AIRPORT WILL CLOSE EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1983." We also have a couple of copies of the Santa Cruz Sentinel from Jan. 3, 1983 with the headline "Amid protest, policmen close Sky Park" and my dad is in the picture.
        • Thanks for the additional details, I would love to see the image of the sign. The best way to handle it is if you create a Wikipedia account of your own then follow their Wikipedia:Uploading_images instructions and let me know it's page address, then I can take a look at it and get it added to the page if it makes sense. Be sure to include a description of the photo and that you took the image yourself and release rights for it's use on Wikipedia. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help.DanDawson (talk) 16:18, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
          • I did create an account and then got busy. I was told I had to do so many edits before I could upload any pics. By the way, I have found home movies that were taken at Sky Park Airport. Also, I am going to be in Scotts Valley for 1 day next month. Just letting you know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EMOleson (talkcontribs) 06:59, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
            • Thanks for the info! I'm not sure about the requirement to make edits before they allow uploads, but it's possible. If you would prefer, feel free to upload the photos anywhere online that would allow me to access them in your full resolution and I can upload them for you. If you've reviewed the home movies and think they would be of general interest (showing the aircraft, buildings, airport, airport operations, etc.) then definitely let me know. If you wanted we could meet up at Skypark during your visit and we could arrange copying the videos, photos, or whatever else you may be willing to share. DanDawson (talk) 16:10, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
              • My one day in Scotts Valley is on September 20 and I'll bring some pics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.43.121.85 (talk) 14:34, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
              • I forgot to sign in, but I am going to visit Sky Park, the site of, this Thursday. Let me know if you want to meet. I thought I would find still pics, but haven't yet. We do have old video of dad flying at Sky Park and still have to review it again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EMOleson (talkcontribs) 05:37, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
                • Yeah, I'd be glad to meet you there. If you happen to find any pictures which you have the authority to release to the public domain for use on Wikipedia that would be awesome. Or since you have the video if I could borrow it from you for a short time I would be glad to digitize it and would return the original along with a DVD copy for you. If it had anything worthy of releasing to Wikipedia I would add it back here as well. Let me know when you think you'll be there and we can arrange a time and place to meet. DanDawson (talk)

Bonny Doon Airport

Hi, airman! I tried to move an image you uploaded (Wikicommons), [[Image:Bonny Doon Villiage Airport.jpg]], in order to correct the Villiage misspelling, but I undid what I… did, because I feared that what the way I tried to use was wrong. There's something I clearly did not understand. Could you correct the title or tell me how to do so? Many thanks forward from a former Californian, now a Ukrainian pilot and photographer. ✓ Kanġi Oĥanko (talk) 15:43, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks for pointing that out, I have re-uploaded the image with the correct spelling. If you know how, feel free to either mark the old image for deletion, or label it as having been replaced by the newer. I couldn't immediately see how to do either of those changes. — DanDawson (talk) 03:32, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

February 2014

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Rialto Municipal Airport may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • will begin as soon as the airport closes and the runways are removed.<ref name=rialto-relocation>[San Bernardino County Sun, [http://www.sbsun.com/government-and-politics/20140225/county-
