- My edit added back in unexplained content removal, which is a constructive edit. Please watch your warnings. Dan653(talk) 01:33, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Yes you are right, that was an oversight. Will be more careful in the future. Tyros1972 (talk) 14:40, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Ethnic group
???:
1. Approximately 180,000-200,000 people of Mingrelian provenance have been expelled from Abkhazia as a result of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict in the early 1990s and the ensuing ethnic cleansing of Georgians in this separatist region. - a falsification without proof and without sources. First, Megrels in Abkhazia have always lived in the east - they are no more than 50 thousand so far. Most of the refugees Georgians (and Megrels) in Abkhazia - is displaced (in 1920-30 -1950) and their descendants (1960-1980) of Georgians from central Georgia (never spoke to Megrelian language). Thus, the word "about 200,000 Megrels" - is falsification of sources and evidence (manipulation of concepts: political goals)
2. Second, Megrelian language and Megrels are a Zan group languages of Kartvelian languages family) - it is a fact research (see sources: Ethnologue. Language Family Trees-Mingrelian; Joshuaproject; Stephen F. Jones: [1]). Where is my violation? violated a rule neutral point of view and... --PlatonPskov (talk) 20:23, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm going to let an admin sort this out because the two of you could both have edit warring violations. Dan653 (talk) 20:40, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Ok. There should be a science, scientific, and not politicking and political motivation of edits. --PlatonPskov(talk) 20:44, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- I agree, but once you noticed the dispute you should have taken it to the page's talk page, his talk page, or an admin.Dan653 (talk) 20:46, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- For me, it was obvious from the sources of changes. Surprised by the abolition of the normal update without explanation (supposedly everything is clear) --PlatonPskov (talk) 20:51, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, just a warning this time don't edit war again without discussion. Dan653 (talk) 20:55, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- OK! See here Talk:Mingrelians - has already begun discussions. --PlatonPskov (talk) 21:13, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Great I would also let Gregorian know too. Dan653 (talk) 21:14, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

For your excellent work on vandalism patrol, and because i saw you beat me on the RC list 7 times in a row. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 20:36, 7 May 2012 (UTC) |
- I never believed in "Getting a star and giving one back right after", since it always gives the impression that one is giving a star back, rather then rewarding a job well done on its own. That being said i think an exception is warranted here, especially since i was halfway creating a star for you to start with when the one on my talk page popped up. Why i was creating a star? Since half the reverts i tried to make after 20:00 was already done by someone else - Excellent work! :) Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 20:36, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
Edit war and adminship
- Best thing to do is to drop both editors a note stating that they are in an edit war, and that they should head to the talk page to discuss. It seems to have started today, so there doesn't seem to be a long-term case of edit warring at time page (yet). Warning might help, but if it persists or if the reverting continues tomorrow without discussion it can simply be reported to WP:RFPP.Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 20:51, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've been thinking about applying for adminship in the distant future (end of this year?), could you give me a tip or some advice on how to work towards that goal, or things I could improve? Dan653 (talk) 21:17, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- The best advice i can probably give is not explicitly aiming for adminship, but rather waiting and seeing if someone offers to nominate you for it sometime. The RFA process is a bit of a poisonous process these days as editors tend to nitpick on minor issues, and might even use conflicting reasons to oppose (Editor 1 opposes because you have to many automated edits such as vandalism patrol, while editor 2 would oppose because you have to little experience in vandalism patrol). As a result an RFA can be quite disheartening, since (in my opinion) doesn't do justice to the good work an editor does. At the same time the criteria to become an admin seems to be increasing more and more - This year so far we had 8 promotions, all of whom were active for at least 3 years. (Seethis page)

- Still not dis-hearted? Good - in that case i could give some general pointers. First and foremost, stay active in area's that require administrative attention such as vandalism patrol, requests for page protection, suspected sockpuppets, AFC discussions, CSD patrol and so on - and show good judgment in those as an editor. You may also wish to involve yourself in some basic content creation to get some experience with it, and show that you understand the rules and policies that apply to a new page. And above all - remain friendly and civil to other editors. Doesn't mean you have to simulate an angel, but basic friendliness is very much required.
- And remember - don't specifically aim for adminship. Not only is explicitly aiming for it frowned at at times, but in all honestly, admins are little more then janitors. What you receive are a few extra buttons that you may only use when the policy allows it. And every single one of those buttons can also be pressed by editors trough reporting to the appropriate noticeboards. The only change is actually pushing the button itself. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 21:35, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for all the info. I have read through the 3 newest rfa's and i agree that they are very poisonous. I actually just saw one where they nitpicked on having too many automated edits. Over the summer I will definetly create some content (it was actually on my summer things to do list), but I don't have the time to right now due to school. I agree on not aiming specifically for adminship, and honestly I think admins abilities should be unbundled. The main reason I would like adminship is for AIV blocking, because it irks me when I report there and there is backlog when I could deal with it myself. Again, thanks for all the info. Your reversal of my correction to the Auguste Viktoria of Schleswig-Holstein article shows your ignorance as well as inattention to words. The article says it's giving her complete name in German, but her complete name in German is Auguste with an e, NOT Augusta with an a, a fact that you could easily have verified by consulting the German Wikipedia, not that you know any German.

Administrator
Hi, If you are an admin hopeful, add either one of these {{User wikipedia/Administrator someday}} or {{User wikipedia/Administrator maybe}} to your user page which will add you to the hopefulslist. Then you could read Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list. Hope this has helped. Best--Chip123456 (talk) 18:43, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- See User_talk:Dan653#Edit_war_and_adminship third paragraph third section from a current admin. Second, thanks for the reading list.Dan653 (talk) 01:15, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
