Borrowing

[edit]

Hey mate, I just 'borrowed' some of the templates you've used on your talk page, it's not alright i'll take them off. Just telling you. Borgarde 14:20, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yeh no problem, i got them off other people neways. --Dan027 07:56, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Added grey pinstripey things

[edit]

I added _pinstripesongrey, etc. as you requested. Check out Template talk:Baseball uniform. Rolando (talk) 13:25, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So I went to see where you'd used these and found your sandbox page where you had worked on the (badly named?) "emblem" thing. And it looked great, except the logo, when reduced, was not transparent. I don't know what is up with this. I downloaded your image, did a save-as in Pixen, which I find to be very good with transparency, and it did the same thing. You saw my my experiment; I've updated it with the following: Then I took an earlier version of the image, cut-pasted it into Pixen, and saved as and uploaded it as Image:Hawks shirt emblem 2.png. It seemed to work--though I don't think it looks exactly right. In any case, you're right: PNG overlays do not work in IE. According to the page at {{Superimpose}}, GIF will. In any case, thanks so much for trying this out. If we can work out the kinks, it could make the uniforms look a lot better. Rolando (talk) 17:29, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It looked like you accidentally created a user subpage in the article namespace, so I moved Used:dan027/contributions&workinp to User:Dan027/contributions&workinp. Just in case you looked at the old spot and wondered where the page went. :) -- Shadowlynk 11:14, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Australian Baseball

[edit]

I've noticed your page on your user about Australian Baseball. I'm wondering if we should actually go ahead and start a WikiProject Australian Baseball, create stubs for Australian related baseball articles, I'd be willing to contribute, just wondering about you Borgarde 09:04, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yeah ive read up on this before and wasnt sure if the support was there to create the project, at the moment it is really only us contributing, and 3 others on occasions. i think i might have a read through the criterias and process towards creating one again tonight though. thanks for the offer to help out. --Dan027 09:19, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
you should have a read of this Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide, and let me know what you think about it. --Dan027 09:29, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's worth it. I had a bit of a read about it, it's not too hard to start the initial project and the expansion will always come. We have significant amount of pages to be considered a seperate project from the initial baseball one, which I think is focusing more on American baseball. This one can be more focussed. I can start the page now, I'll just wait for your reply with support or not, templates and stuff we can make as we go along, but as soon as it's created "if you build it they will come" Borgarde 10:30, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah no problem, im just not going to have alot of time over the next few weeks to do alot of work on here, ill try to help out as much as possible. --Dan027 10:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The project is created, it is EXTREMELY rough right now while I'm trying to make a rough layout, with a few templates to organise it. Feel free to add as little or as much as your want, and I think if we discuss anything related to Australian Baseball we should do it here from now on :) Borgarde 09:54, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no problem. ill see wat i can contribute. --Dan027 10:36, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hey, thanks for adding the assessment scale into the template. I tried to before but couldn't get it right, seems like it is now though. Good job --Borgarde 15:27, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, dont worry it only did my head in for about 3 hours. --Dan027 02:21, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Claxton Shield 2007

[edit]

Thanks for updating the article for the 2007 Claxton Shield. Good work. --Borgarde 16:37, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers mate. in the near future im going to change all the previous claxton shield articles to the same layout as this one, and finish off the remaining ABL seasons. --Dan027 11:08, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]
Ive notice you continauly keep changing the bands genre from pop punk to punk rock and the opening paragraph to imply that the band is active, neither of these are the consensus that was reached on the articles talk page, please raise the issue there in future making, these changes to the article again can be considered vandalism. --Dan027 02:18, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey bro,

First of all, there was no consensus on the talk page at all.

Second, what you are doing can be tagged as vandalism as well.

Third, I started a new topic about it on blink- 182's talk page. You should look at what I wrote.

We're both blink fans, and that's cool, so lets come to an agreement over this topic.

And it should be "is" not "was". They took a break in 2002 also, when Tom formed Boxcar Racer. Just cause they're a little more pissed at eachother this time around doesn't mean the band has ceased to exist. It's a hiatus, not a break-up. If you look on Pink Floyd's page, it says "is" even though they are on a hiatus and have been for MANY years. Just leave it as "is" and "punk rock".

By the way, I think it's a little wierd that your profile says that you "like real punk rock and can't stand pop-punk" yet it also says you "love blink-182". So by that rationalle, you should want to classify them as "punk rock" and not "pop-punk".

Care to explain?

--Hawkypunk 07:27, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

the consensus on the page was reached here[1].
well by posting somthing on your talk page it brought the issue away from an edit war, thats hardly vandalism.
in the article it says Years active 1992 – 2005 (on hiatus), meaning the band is not active, which correct english grammer would have the article in past tense(was) and not present tense(is).
just for you ill take that user box off, would you like it instead ;) we are both blink fans im sure a resonable agreement can be reached between us. cheers mate --Dan027 11:21, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent contributions

[edit]

Hi, lots of contributions. Well done. Do beware of "Compeating", I'm pretty sure there is no "A" and it occurs quite often. Victuallers 17:56, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Australian Baseball League

[edit]

Hey, just wondering if you've heard anymore news about the league starting up again. The source that is on the article doesn't exist anymore.. and I haven't heard much else. --Borgardetalk 11:45, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not recently, there was an article in one of West Australian papers in the last month or so stating preety much the same thing. ill ask around and see if i can find anymore out on it. --Dan027 11:56, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
a link to the article on the new ABL from November 30th last year [2], the previous article was taken down after a request from Baseball Australia that it could put the new league at risk. --Dan027 12:23, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WikiProject Alternative music member.
WikiProject Alternative music, in my eyes, has proved to be successful "improving the encyclopaedic coverage of articles relating to alternative rock", and improving their quality as well. One specific example I have witnessed is The Smashing Pumpkins article. The page has gone from a mediocre work, to GA status, to FA nomination. Only appropriate, as the Pumpkins are undeniably one of the most influential alternative rock bands on the 1990's and beyond.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently ressurected WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and not only be a member of alternative Wikipedians, but the rockin' ones as well.
Rock on.

Image:MelbourneBallpark.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MelbourneBallpark.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 17:52, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Railway Line Guides

[edit]

Hi Dan027. I noticed the line guides you put on the Healesville and Warburton railway line articles. They look good. Was that work based on some standard that's being encouraged? I think they would also be appropriate for other rail lines and I was planning to help out. I was wondering if you could point me to some sort of guide to using the codes for the line guide graphic images, etc. as couldn't find anything about how to use them on the railways project pages. Thanks. -- Rick69p 14:38, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

gday, i noticed the line guide being used on the Victorian Goldfields Railway article afew days ago, i mostly self taught myself how to use the template by reading over Wikipedia:Railway line template, im not sure if there is a standard to using the template ive just been looking over railway maps at Vicsig.net and using [www.street-directory.com.au]. i plan on slowly working through all the lines in Victoria over the coming months, your more then welcome to help out, cheers mate. --Dan027 08:39, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
G'day, the Wikipedia:Railway line template is precisely what I was after. Thanks for that. I did think your work looked suspiciously Vicsig and Melway inspired! :) I must say I did have one concern about the Healesville line guide and the apparent need to include every drain and flood plain bridge. Makes for a very long diagram! I wonder, given the scope of the article, if they are all necessary. Maybe one or two with a label "numerous bridges" or something similar would be enough. I don't know. Just a thought. For completeness it's probably OK. Otherwise it looks great. Cheers -- Rick69p 11:45, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:BCE.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BCE.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:41, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AustralianProvincial.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AustralianProvincial.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unspecified source for Image:AustralianProvincial.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AustralianProvincial.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a on-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:57, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Matt Tilley Accusations

[edit]

Hello Dan027, I have posted a reply to Lakeyboy on his userpage which you may want to look at. I had no idea that the edits I did would cause such an uproar. This is my fault entirely, as had I looked at the history of the page, I would have seen there have been numerous edit wars on this page. Nonetheless, I take cumbrance with you falsely attributing edits to me on the talk page of Matt Tilley. Please remove the unsigned comment addition which you made, as I did not make any such comment. I have total confidence that if you examine the IP Addresses and/or history of the page you will find I made no such edit.

The comments you made, accusing me of vandalism of the page, are inflammatory and unnecessary. I have attempted to maintain good faith at all times on wikipedia, however I resent the accusation that I made abusive edits when I categorically did not. When I made the edits, I clearly did each one separately in order to make all the dead-link removals obvious and to avoid looking as though I was ripping the article apart with no justification. I then posted explanations on both the talk section of the page, and Lakeyboy's talk page. If you doubt this, then please examine the history of the pages.

Wikipedia is in a continual state of change, with pages being updated and improved (for the most part) all the time, assuming bad-faith in the way you did with regard to my edits is counter-productive and discourages people from editing. I will not re-edit Matt Tilley and will be interested to see whether you remove the dead links or leave them there, it may well be a good indicator of who the real vandal is here.

Regards --VicLib12 23:53, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

if its not you why take such offence? just say its not you and thats then end of it, your edits to the Sam Newman article are what drew my attention to you. my bad i didnt relise that comment wasnt by you. --Dan027 07:37, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dan027, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Reds3.gif) was found at the following location: User:Dan027/TestPage1. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 07:00, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Sydneymetrosdesign.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sydneymetrosdesign.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:08, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
