Dembi Dolo University is one of the eleven newly established public higher learning institutions during the 2nd Ethiopian Growth and Transformation Plan. It is located in Dembi Dolo town, capital of Kelem Welega Zone, Oromia, Ethiopia (South-Western Ethiopia). It is found on the distance of 652km from the capital of the country, Addis Ababa at the outskirt of Dembi Dolo town on the vast land surrounded by ever green forest and natural scenery of landscape.
At the relative far front in the East across the plain lowland is found part of the fundamental historical mountain (Tulu Walal) which is one aspect of the general beauty of the surroundings. The other beauty of the university is that Meti River and the Dembi Dolo airport are found on the range plain as a straight limiting the extent of visibility the university. All these make the scenic view of the university much more touching and pleasant.
The university is working hard to start undergraduate and graduate programs in September 2017. It will be an innovative institution to provide theoretical and practical education which is designed to produce manpower at various levels in technology and to conduct both basic and applied research to ensure the effective utilization of resources for the development of the county.
Mean time, Dembi Dolo University is also constructing infrastructures to create a welcoming environment for its students. The number of the students to be admitted in 2010 E.C (September 2017) is around 4000.
Therefore, it aims to produce visionary manpower at various levels in academic world of technology through one can conduct both basic and applied research to ensure the effective utilization of resources which is expected to be at the forefront of the development and transformation efforts of the nation.
