[edit]Hi Dslavichhixson! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
File permission problem with File:Ivan L. Slavich.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Ivan L. Slavich.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:35, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. We have resolved the issues with the file permissions. Dslavichhixson (talk) 04:17, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
I was just trying to be helpful...
[edit]I notice that you reverted most of my edits to your article without citing a reason. The reason I edited the article was to make the postal state designations clearer to those readers in countries other than the United States where the abbreviations might not mean anything to the reader. I was attempting to be helpful and not malicious. I am a Vietnam Veteran and have nothing but respect for the contributions that the man this article is about has made to soldiers, Army and the United States. Good luck with getting your article accepted, but be forewarned that it will take some time before you will get an acceptance notification. The on and only article that I submitted through that process took over six months before it was rejected and I had to rewrite and resubmit it. That took another two months for it to finally be accepted. You might note that once an article has be moved to main space, there will be others that will edit it. Do not take this editing personally, it happens to even experienced editors. Cuprum17 (talk) 01:07, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- Cuprum17 - I apologize for removing your edits. I am new to Wikipedia and didn't realize that the article could be edited while I still had it in a draft state. I didn't check for others' edits before changing the state designations, thinking that I had perhaps written them that way initially. But yes, you are correct. the states would read more clearly to a non-American if they were written out. I will change them back. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. - No problem...have fun editing on Wikipedia. You really meet some neat people on here...there is the occasional downer, but not often. I can't help but notice that part of your user name is the same as the Colonel Slavich that this article is about...are you related? Just curious... if there is anything that I can help you with just leave a message on my talk page and I'll come runnin' with help if I can... Cuprum17 (talk) 06:36, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
Ivan Slavich was my father. This article is my contribution to his legacy. Thanks again for your help, and thank you also for your service to our country. Dslavichhixson (talk) 12:56, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- I suspected as much. You must be very proud of your father's accomplishments. I notice that your article was accepted, in what must be a record time...Congratulations! I will probably make a few edits to improve the linking in the article, but except for a few minor items the article looks very good. In the future, if you decide to create another article, you don't necessarily have to go through the Articles for Creation process. Thank you for your contribution to Wikipedia and to your father's legacy... Cuprum17 (talk) 14:12, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Recipients of the Legion of Merit may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
- List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
