A tag has been placed on User:DFSBrent/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. I believe the article is written objectively as an encylopedic entry and its sources well cited. If you would like to see specific information removed or edited, I would be happy to make those changes. I am using PetCo and PetSmart entries as my precedent and guide for neutrality. I have no interest nor desire to breach Wikipedia's criterion.

Thank you. I look forward to further discussion. DFSBrent (talk) 16:46, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Sorry to hear about your ferret.[1] WuhWuzDat 16:28, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm declining the suggested "speedy" deletion of your userpage, since you make an argument that your company is part of an important cultural trend, and you're showing a lot of willingness to look up sources and work with us. However, that kind of content isn't appropriate for your userpage (see WP:UP) or, in the page's current form, for articlespace, so I've moved the page over to WP:Article Incubator/User:DFSBrent so other people can help you work on it. Hopefully it will turn into an article of general interest to our readers after more work is done. - Dank (push to talk) 17:41, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. A couple of good places to ask for help ... pick one or the other ... would be WT:Article Incubator and WP:Drawing board. - Dank (push to talk) 17:47, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your review and compromise. I look forward to collaborating with others to help shape a viable and important Wikipedia article. No doubt the first section that should be deleted outright is "Industry Recognition." I'll do that now.

I'm new of course - what happens next? At what point (or how) is it decided the article is ready to hatch?

Best to you and happy new year,

Brent

The wheels turn slowly, but they do turn. I'm tied up these days or I'd help more with this. I believe you'll get help at one of those two links. - Dank (push to talk) 18:20, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Per discussion at WT:Article Incubator, I moved (i.e. renamed) the page to Wikipedia:Article Incubator/Doctors Foster and Smith. - Dank (push to talk) 03:23, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I have decided to "adopt" the Drs F & S article. You are right that the company is notable and deserves an article. Unfortunately the article, as written, read like an ad or promotion piece for the company. But, don't feel bad - It was a reasonable try & had some salvageable parts. It is simply not very easy to be neutral when you are writing about something important to you, especially if you have no other experience writing for Wikipedia. (This can be a difficult place for newcomers at times.)

I have cleaned up the language & will work on improving the article from here over the next few days. Hopefully it can make mainspace within a week or so.

If you have an questions, feel free to respond here, at my talk page, or at the article's talk page. Have a nice day, ThaddeusB (talk) 01:45, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good news - Drs. Foster & Smith has been promoted into mainspace. When you get a chance, look over the article and see if there is anything you think is 1) inaccurate; 2) confusing; or 3) missing.
I have also nominated the article at WP:DYK, which will place a fact from the article on the main page for about 6 hours if accepted. --ThaddeusB (talk) 04:41, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Drs. Foster & Smith

[edit]
Updated DYK query On April 5, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Drs. Foster & Smith, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
