Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of American television shows currently in production, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Deal With It (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Cytkory and Discographer, you both appear to be regular recent contributors to the article "List of the Longest-running Broadway Shows".

I am confident you would have a knowledgeable opinion regarding my question at this Talk link. Could you please take a look and and make any edits you deem fit? West End theatre

[edit]

Hi, can you explain why you delete the sources from the article when moving from upcoming to the theatre section. Because you don't use edit summaries it does not appear obvious. The sources verify the information in the article. Also why do you later remove if someone else has added to the table. I just can't see an obvious reason. Any reply would be appreciated. Blethering Scot 13:10, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not Cytkory although I do appreciate the yeoman's work he does on the West End and Broadway theatre articles keeping the list of current shows up to date.
My guess is that they are no longer strictly needed, as the ability to verify which show is playing at a given theatre is easily verified by millions of people just by walking by. Remember, WP:V does not require online sources for verification, and these may even fall under the category of WP:BLUE. Also, the reference used to list a show on the upcoming productions list may not be entirely accurate by the time the show opens and so would actually be outdated to include in the current shows lists (strictly speaking, all the source does is verify the announcement of the upcoming production, not that it has opened).
That said, Scot is right, Cy, you should use edit summaries more frequently, so others can know what the edit is about from their watchlists without needing to actually check. You do good work overall, but these are helpful ways to do even better work.oknazevad (talk) 22:50, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The source is not redundant entirely and is still valid, it should either be replaced with an updated source of which there are many on West End productions or the source should remain. Ive been trying to get a response of any kind from Cytkory for quite some time through a variety of ways. I have a lot of concerns depite the good work which is why frustratingly I'm trying to keep this as calm as possible. Oh and someone being able to walk by and see a show is open is strictly speaking original research and we cant verify an encyclopaedia in that way.Blethering Scot 23:03, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Blethering Scot. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Broadway theatre without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry: I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Do not remove sources that are still valid to production and includes, dates opened, theatre it is in without replacing with an alternative source. When closure is announced another source should be added in addition next to closure date. Please do not remove references without replacing with a suitable i.e. equivalent source. Verifiability is an issue. Blethering Scot 12:42, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for 48 hours, because of long-term persistent disruptive editing. Considering how long the problems have been going on, the number of messages you have received, and the fact that you have made no attempt at all to respond to those messages, it is amazing that you have not been blocked long ago. You have been receiving messages about removing sources and other content from articles since November 2013, but you have continued to do so, as for example in this edit. Amazingly, in this edit you even posted a hidden message to other editors, saying "All upcoming shows must be confirmed and sourced or may be removed", and yet you nevertheless continued to remove sources yourself. You may believe that you have good reasons for what you have been doing, but if so you have never made any attempt to explain those reasons, whether by replying to messages on this page, by posting to article talk pages, or by using edit summaries. You have been receiving messages asking you to use edit summaries since June 2013, but as far as I can see you have never once done so. (I have checked your last 1500 edits, and you certainly did not use edit summaries in any of those.) Likewise, you have never once posted to any talk page, even in the face of numerous messages expressing concerns about your editing. Wikipedia is a collaborative project, and people who choose to contribute need to be willing to collaborate with other editors, not to just do their own thing and ignore everyone else. The persistent nature of your disruptive editing, continuing for two years, would justify a much longer block, but since you have not been blocked before I am giving you a short block, in the hope that it will call your attention to the issues involved, and that you will now respond to other editors' concerns. If you believe there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Why did you move it back? The summary "revert" doesn't address any of the concerns I raised DannyS712 (talk) 19:34, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Before moving Gold Derby Award for Best Drama Series back into mainspace again I would recommend taking a look at similar lists such as Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. This would help on how to integrate sources and references into the article. Alucard 16❯❯❯ chat? 20:49, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a community process

[edit]

Hi there, I am an administrator on the English Wikipedia. This is a community editing project, and as such, you are required to discuss changes that other people oppose. This is part of our Bold, Revert, Discuss (BRD) process. When an edit you make is reverted, your option is to open a discussion to seek consensus, not to resubmit the change. If you are not willing to do that, then you will very quickly wind up with your editing privileges revoked. Some of your edits, like this, remove useful content like the templates at the top of the article in favour of some version that you find better for some unexplained reason. I would hope that you would be able to explain why that version is superior to the last version, in detail, on the talk page, otherwise, the other version should remain. You can't stonewall the improvement of articles, and also remain silent on your objections. Further, you rarely use edit summaries to explain your rationale for most of your changes, which is also unhelpful. Please get it together and stop with the knee-jerk reversions. Information icon Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:Spshu, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. American politics discretionary sanctions alert

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Discretionary sanctions violation at 2020 United States Senate elections

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2020 United States Senate elections; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. ― Tartan357 (Talk) 06:03, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your declarations of winners at this page, and you reverted my revert, citing NYT projections. This has nothing to do with projections. There is not a consensus for how to call races yet, as I said before. I will again direct you to Talk:2020 United States Senate elections#Declaration of winners based on AP projections. You have violated the enforced WP:BRD active arbitration remedy by restoring your reverted edit without seeking consensus. I have reverted your edit as being against consensus. If you continue to edit-war, I will take you to WP:AE, where you may be blocked for violating the discretionary sanction. ― Tartan357 (Talk) 05:56, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To avoid adding a bunch of edits, when you add a winner, could you include {{double dagger|alt=Winner}} after the bolded text? Hi, I noticed in this edit that you removed the Short Form Animated Program category from this year's ceremony article. I had added it because the fact that a category received no nominations is unusual and should probably be included, and it offers better continuity between years by not implying the category was eliminated entirely. There are also other examples of categories with no nominees that were still included (see 59th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards#Performing). I'd like to put it back but would like to avoid unnecessary edit warring. What are your thoughts? RunningTiger123 (talk) 04:34, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion is wait until the Emmys officially release a press release or something that acknowledges that no award was given. I looked at the link you provided and it included a press release. So let's keep it consistent and wait until the TV Academy confirms it. Cytkory (talk) 04:39, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That press release was used since, as a juried category, there was no information in the main nominations list. The official nomination list for this year specifically mentions the lack of nominees: "Note: Submissions were prescreened to determine nominations. None of the submissions received nine-tenths approval, resulting in no nominations this year." That seems like clear-cut confirmation to me. RunningTiger123 (talk) 17:58, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

FYI...
Two recent articles both saying Pauley is the location. It would be wise not to use original research while editing, as that is very unhelpful as well. Magitroopa (talk) 18:49, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
