What's going on here?

There's been a tremendous amount of discussion (and acrimony) around points that, on the scale of the encyclopedia as a whole, are rather small. In some cases, there has been little or no effort to use the existing dispute resolution channels. In other cases, the attempts to use these channels have been ineffective.

This is intended as a "catch all" arbitration, where the issues can be examined carefully, logically, and politely. By constructing this backwards, as it were, the hope is that clarity will results. Only if and when it becomes clear that a meaningful arbitration can occur will one be requested.

This has several possible outcomes:

  • When carefully examined, there is no problem. Everyone can simply "shut up and get back to work."
  • There are some small issues with conduct, and evidence supporting this will hopefully lead to improvement.
  • There are serious behavioral problems that impair the functioning of the encyclopedia, and serious steps need to be taken to correct them.

Please avoid, at all costs, any emotive language or personal attacks. Do not comment at all on another editor's motivations or beliefs. Restrict all comments to those that are supported (or can be supported) by evidence in the form of diffs.

Don't say: Foo stalked me, revertin' all my edits to harass me.
Do say: Foo's first edits to articles one, two and three all followed my edits to those articles. [diff 1] [diff 2] [diff 3]

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this.

This is a page for working on Arbitration decisions. The Arbitrators, parties to the case, and other editors may draft proposals and post them to this page for review and comments. Proposals may include proposed general principles, findings of fact, remedies, and enforcement provisions—the same format as is used in Arbitration Committee decisions. The bottom of the page may be used for overall analysis of the /Evidence and for general discussion of the case.

Any user may edit this workshop page. Please sign all suggestions and comments. Arbitrators will place proposed items they believe should be part of the final decision on the /Proposed decision page, which only Arbitrators may edit, for voting.
