March 2023

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to Beastie Boys, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and/or verifiability policies. While we invite all users to contribute constructively to Wikipedia, we urge all editors to provide reliable sources for edits made. When others disagree, we recommend you seek consensus for certain edits by discussing the matter on the article's talk page. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 03:13, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Genre categorization

[edit]

Hi CyberLegend7, per WP:SONGS#Categorization, if the songs for a music artist are categorized by a specific genre in "Category:<Artist name> songs" then each individual song article doesn't need to be in the same genre category. Because Category:Children of Bodom songs is categorized in Category:Melodic death metal songs, none of the songs need to be in that same category. Notice that there are only two other individual songs in the category because those are by groups whose songs are not generally considered melodic death metal. If the way you think it should be done was the norm, each of the articles for Children of Bodom songs should be categorized in Category:Melodic death metal songs as well as Category:Power metal songs and Category:Finnish heavy metal songs. And then, shouldn't each of the album articles in Category:Children of Bodom albums be individually categorized in Category:Melodic death metal albums? Thanks. Warning

[edit]

Please read MOS:ACCLAIMED before arbitrarily inserting "critically acclaimed" to lead sentences of film articles. Next time you do this will be seen as an act of vandalism and you will be reported. Thank you! Mike Allen 14:24, 11 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality at Femboy

[edit]

Hi - I saw that you placed a {{neutrality}} tag on Femboy earlier. I'm intending to put it in for a Good Article nomination after it's been through DYK, so being neutral is obviously important haha. I've not had my work be tagged as non-neutral before, so I was wondering whether you'd be able to elaborate on why you put that tag there, so that I can fix it. Thanks! Frzzltalk;contribs 15:05, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i just think the criticism section is just overly aggressive and the whole thing about them being a form of toxic masculinity feels contradictory as femboys are an expression of male effeminacy and not trying to be sexist as the sources say. CyberLegend7 (talk) 15:29, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I looked through the template you linked and the section wasn't neutral, you're right that it had too much criticism and didn't show praise for femboys, so I've reworked it.
When you say that it's too "aggressive", are you talking about the quotations themselves? Our job on Wikipedia isn't to show femboys as good or bad, it's to show both sides of the argument to let people make their own decisions. I completely agree that the critics don't make a lot of sense, but if they're coming from reliable sources, then we're being biased if we don't show them.
Would you mind having a glance at my changes? Frzzltalk;contribs 15:36, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i think that the changes you made were good, i still dont agree with what the critics say but it feel we kinda have to include it. CyberLegend7 (talk) 15:42, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
