Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. A tag has been placed on User:Lincoln School Project requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Leonidlednev (TCL) 16:03, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved this Userpage to the sandbox space for now. Possibly the same editor or coordinated activity at Draft:Lincoln School Project. Will sort out the username issue next. BusterD (talk) 16:12, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because the Lincoln School Project absolutely meets the qualifications to have a Wikipedia page. I provided 15 citations ranging from local newspapers to national magazines. The page content is straightforward and without bias. The speed at which the notification came in that the page was being deleted was absurd. It took less than 2 minutes from the time I clicked Publish until I received a notice that some editor requested speedy deletion. The argument was vague and inarticulate to put it mildly. This former Black school, and the folks behind its renovation, deserve to be heard, to be seen, to be known. If this project is good enough for national magazine coverage, it should be good enough for wikipedia. Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:13, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was the admin who came along and read the tag. I declined the speedy and moved this to your sandbox (User:Lincoln School Project/Sandbox) where you are welcome to develop it. There's another version at Draft:Lincoln School Project. Are you the same editor? BusterD (talk) 16:19, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am the same editor. I am terribly sorry if I accidentally created a draft version. I am still trying to figure out how to navigate this page. I put in a request to change my username as you indicated that I should in a previous message. Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:22, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. Let's keep chatting here. BusterD (talk) 16:24, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The draft space is ideal for this sort of thing, but I prefer the version I moved to your sandbox. Allow me to ask, are you connected with the subject? You are required to disclose if you are a paid editor or are in conflict of interest. The username you'll be forced to change, for the reasons expressed in the warning template below. BusterD (talk) 16:26, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am not connected to the subject, nor am I compensated in any way for editing. I live in the community where this project is happening, and based on the attention they have been receiving I felt the project garnered a Wikipedia page Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:31, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are my new best friend. I can help you do this right, if you want any help. I can introduce you to others better than I at this. But I read your userpage draft and there's something significant there. BusterD (talk) 16:34, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your help! I truly appreciate it. I truly believe in the work that they are doing at the Lincoln School Project, and I want to help bring any attention to them that I can. I will jump through any hoops and correct anything that needs to be corrected to make that happen. Again, thank you so much for your kindness. Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:41, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You might just start inhabiting the Crockett Oaks username if you wish, then we can mark this as historical, and redirect this username to that one. BusterD (talk) 17:03, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But I am not Crockett Oaks, he is the owner of the Lincoln School. I know he previously tried to make a wiki page but was unable to figure it out. Lincoln School Project (talk) 17:09, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then let's not do that. We don't want to put him in a bad spot because he IS involved. BusterD (talk) 17:12, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely don't want to put him in a bad spot! So, how do I need to proceed to get this page conforming? Lincoln School Project (talk) 17:14, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am going to walk the huskies. You should get your name change dealt with. Shouldn't take a few minutes. Then you should get all your sources in a row. Let's stay in your sandbox, since it's purely your work. This is much like writing a good term paper. Sources are everything. BusterD (talk) 17:21, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Enjoy your walk! I filled out the request to change the username, but I haven't received a response. Lincoln School Project (talk) 17:25, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You might take a look at WP:ORG.This will give you some idea how tricky it is to have an article about an organization of any kind. Sometimes it's not a good idea; sometimes you find that out in retrospect. The notability standard is another night table reading page for you. BusterD (talk) 17:26, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created User:Lincoln School Project, and I noticed that your username, "Lincoln School Project", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. BusterD (talk) 16:16, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you'd like to rename, it could be something like User:LSP-Jane or User:Bill at Lincoln School Project, if you like, to reveal your association. We haven't even gotten into conflict of issues yet. And we will need to do so. BusterD (talk) 16:23, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, as I said before, I have already requested a username change. Could you clarify what you mean by "conflict of issues"? Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:26, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let's talk in the thread above, ok? I meant conflict of interest issues. I promise to answer your questions. Howdy! I'm BusterD! BusterD (talk) 16:29, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
    • You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:39, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your feedback! I am currently conversing with another mod. I have already submitted a username change request. Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:42, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(stalking) Just to note; Wikipedia doesn't have moderators. (Babysharkboss2) 16:44, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, well I apologize for using the wrong word. I am conversing with "someone" about the issues. Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:45, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe you are referring to @Jimfbleak, an admin. Moderaters of Wikipedia are a failed idea. (Babysharkboss2) 16:49, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I apologize for my terminology. Actually, I am referring to BusterD. Lincoln School Project (talk) 16:51, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And I am a moderate administrator. It's amazing how much of this stuff accrues during good faith discussion about something we may disagree about. BusterD (talk) 16:59, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
