A handy quick reference guide for editing Wiki.

This is your Talk page where you can receive messages from other Wikipedians and discuss things with them. At the end of your messages you must put your signature by signing with four ~~~~ or by pressing the button in the editor bar as shown here in the picture. By the way, you don't need to sign edits that you make in the articles themselves as those messages will be deleted. Another valuable page that may provide information and assistance is User:Persian Poet Gal/"How-To" Guide to Wikipedia. My name is Buster7 and I am a Wiki Guide. If you have any questions or face any initial hurdles, feel free to contact me on my talk page and I will do what I can to assist. If I can't assist you, I will attempt to locate a more appropriate resource. Good Luck editing! Buster Seven Talk 15:42, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Signing

[edit]

If you look at your entry on my talk, you will see that there is a 'bot' that will sign for you if you forget. So the first lesson is to remember to sign but if you forget its not a big deal. The second thing might be to familiarize yourself with 'the workings' of WP (Wikipedia). Getting into the early habit of using the edit summary (below) is a great idea. It is a help for other editors and for yourself. Most editors find the "watchlist" an invaluable tool to monitor what is happening at the pages they have edited on or are interested in watching. Your edit summaries will help you find your edits among the many that will accumulate. Wander around, check out other editors user and talk pages, click 'random article' along the left side and, if you find a grammatical or syntax mistake, be bold, fix it. Have fun!Buster Seven Talk 14:28, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tip of the day

[edit]

I put "tip of the day" on your user page 'cause I think its a good reference place for new editors to get familiar with whats going on here. It gives a brief nutshell description of different actions and you can use the blue links to get more info if you want. Click "prior" to get the previous days tips. TRA! Non-free files in your user space

[edit]

Hey there Cuppa67, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Cuppa67. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.

Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:06, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem with this removal. It's just a bot doing its job regarding a corporate image. I kinda figured it would happen but decided to give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Buster Seven Talk 14:06, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ask/Art as a reference

[edit]

I am dying to know if we can use a newspaper article and/or a site that I purchased information from as a reference. In my opinion there is enough information on the "free" portion of the Ask/Art reference to be used as a reference. So, my suggestion is "go with it". As for images of your aunt, I need to ask some editor that is much more knowledgeable about that. Let me ponder that for a while. Or, maybe go to the WP:Help desk. There is always an abundance of helful editors just waiting to assist. BTW, I have taken the liberty of moving the User:Buster7/Sandbox page to User:Cuppa67/Sandbox-DHS. We can both work on shaping the article. Don't worry about mistakes, etc. Buster Seven Talk 14:42, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox-DHS

[edit]

I check it on "my watchlist". Discussions usually take place on the "talk page" User talk:Cuppa67/Sandbox-DHS . Buster Seven Talk 20:00, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

Your article Dorothy Hope Smith was recently tagged as "uncategorized" by a bot. I am also watching that article and have added two categories, 1)Art Institute Alumni and 2)Magazine Illustrators. If you go to the bottom of the article and click on the category, it will take you there and you will find reference to your article and Dorothy Smith. It was my first time adding a category to a new article so it was a learning experience. Proff that an old dog CAN learn new tricks. ```Buster Seven Talk 13:19, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
