The Original Barnstar
For your fight against vandalism. Catgut (talk) 21:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hihi, we ec'd while you were readding the speedy...I hope you'll like my simple solution, tho feel free to revert me as well if you feel like it should be gone instead. LegoTech·(t)·(c) 04:26, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, your change is fine; in fact, I think it's actually better. Since there's really just that definition, it makes more sense to redirect it to wiktionary. Since the article was so short, I was thinking Wavesbrief would have gotten the message that there was no need to keep it. --Cubs Fan (talk) 04:32, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

[edit]

Unfortunately, your RfA seems to have little chance of succeeding at this point. Most people joining the discussion (including myself, in remaining neutral) see some minor problems, which would be easily remedied over the course of the next couple of months. I think that an RfA at some near point in the future would succeed. Perhaps you should consider withdrawing your RfA at this time, and working on those areas mentioned in the oppose/neutral sections, and reapplying in a couple of months. Regards, S. Dean Jameson 16:03, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm starting to see that. I just wanted to give it a shot; maybe I'll do better in future. --Cubs Fan (talk) 16:17, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Robinwilliams.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Robinwilliams.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Kelly hi! 06:16, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Guitar Hero

[edit]

I have to question why you placed all of those "<nowiki>" tags in this edit. "[" and "]" do absolutely nothing by themselves in wiki-coding, so they really aren't necessary. Yet, you keep on adding them back. Why? --haha169 (talk) 03:38, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Me? I didn't on purpose. I was trying to undo this edit. I guess the nowiki tags were in the version I was restoring; I wasn't really looking for them. --Cubs Fan (talk) 04:25, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, it was the one with the penis again, huh? IMO, all main page FAs need a semi. Never mind, then. --haha169 (talk) 17:25, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Lorelaigilmore.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lorelaigilmore.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:29, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copy and paste move of Bram Stoker's Dracula

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Bram Stoker's Dracula a different title by copying its content and pasting it into Dracula (1992 film). This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. request for help

[edit]

Hi,

I'm a registered user on wiki-en (user:Dick Bos), but recently, before I logged in, I received a message about a new message on my user talk page: 222.155.21.20. This message from you about vandalism on the page Masterton, which dates from May 2008 confuses me. I do have this ip-address, but I don't know if it might change. I'll check that. I'm pretty sure I have this address only shortly, since I came (back) to NZ, a few months ago. I don't understand is why I get that message now.

To my apologies I can say that I was not in NZ (on this ip-address) when the vandalism occured. And I have never done an edit on the Masterton-page, as far as I can remember.

I am not "technical" at all, and I can only suppose that someone else has used this same address two years ago. But why do I receive a message while logging in, today for the first time?

Do you perhaps know what happened? Thanks in advance. User:Dick Bos (nog logged in) - 222.155.21.20 (talk) 07:54, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As you will understand, I would be happy if you could answer my question on my talk page. Greetings, Dick Bos (talk) 07:56, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
