Hey Chad, small world huh, I see you yesterday and then bump into you on the internet. My Wikipedia usage has actually gone way down lately. I switch to working at Wiktionary for a while (I actually an administrator at Wiktionary) but even that has lost some of it's gloss for me.

Anyway, I look forward into bumping into you more around here from time to time.

WikiChristian

Hi Chad,

I noticed that you are Christian. Come and take a look at www.wikichiristian.org and consider contributing. It is still small and has very few users. I'm praying that God helps the site to grow and become a forum for Christians to write and read about all aspects of Christianity. It is not meant to be a copy of wikipedia. It is not meant to be purely an encyclopedia. For any given topic, it will hopefully contain a short summary of the topic followed by links to many sub-articles - some containing simple facts; some sharing experiences; some explaining a particular viewpoint and so on.

Take for example the article on grace. It has various "Definition and explanation" articles explaining the meaning of grace. It has a few "Articles / opinions" about grace. It has links for "Quotes' about grace and links to "Songs about grace". The site is also meant to be a resource site containing information about Christian texts, literature, art, music, radio, television and internet.

Take a look at the example article on the song Shout to the Lord. It has links to information about the song, lyrics and chords to the song and links for comments or opinions to be expressed about the song.

The site also intends to explain the history of important events in Christianity. Take a look at The Reformation section. This has links for "Overview" articles, "Opinion" articles, "Quotes" and "Travel" stories.

The site intends to be a reference about major (and minor) figures in the Bible, the early church and today. Take a look at John Stott. It contains "Overview" and "Opinion" articles. It contains texts of "Talks" given by John Stott and links to "Books" by John Stott.

In summary, I suppose, that my hope is that WikiChristian becomes a major reference point for Christians and non-Christians to go to find about any issue related to Christianity. I don't believe that this should be carbon-copy of wikipedia. It should resemble it in some ways, but in other ways, it should be quite different in structure and evolution. I realize that there are different views about different topics - and accordingly, there should always be the opportunity for a person to write his personal view under the "Opinion and articles" section of any given page.

I would love you to take a look at wikichristian and contribute. If you don't wish to contribute, would you consider visiting it's world wide directory of churches we are setting up and entering your church into the database. The point of the database is to state the location of a church with the service times and add a brief description of the church. You can take a look for example at: Church Directory -> Australia -> South Australia -> Adelaide -> St Matthew's Anglican Church

If you don't wish to contribute to WikiChristian, you could consider one of the other wikis related to Christianity that have been set up by other people. These include: Theopedia, Compass or OrthoxWiki.

Thank you for calling my attention to the Vanity Guidelines. Project invite

Hi Chad, you don't know me, but I see you got your MA in in Industrial/Organizational Psychology just recently. Congrats! Actually that's why I'm writing. I picked your name up from your catagory. Anyway, I'm recruitng OrgDev talent for a mini-project Wikipedia:WikiProject Fast OrgDev Advisory on Userpages, which will write an advisory document in support of the new Wikipedia:Proposed policy on userboxes. In the larger sense, it's an small experiment to see if OrgDev talent can be concentrated for internal use here at Wikipedia -- of course, a lot of folks don'e want to get into that and just want to edit articles, and that's fine. Thanks for uploading Image:NorthwestNazareneUniversityLogo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Category help

Hi, I was wondering if youd could offer some help, please? I want to add the category: swing dance line to the lindy hop article, as lindy is part of the swing dance family, but i was wondering if that worked, seeing as how the lindy hop article is currently listed in the lindy hop category...? Hi! Thanks for the interesting question and for your trust in my ability to answer it, but I am afraid I don't know much about the topic to be prescriptive. At first sight, it seems that the question depends on how the name Lindi hop is used. If the name is used to contrast this type of dancing to other dance forms, I would say that it is a proper name. In broad terms, proper names tend to be unique in their context and are normally capitalised (you may want to think of the difference between God and god), so when Lindi hop is used to uniquely identify a type of dancing, I think it needs a capital L. By contrast, if you use lindi hop to refer to various instances of this dance, it seems to function like a generic name, much like the word classical music or rock. In these cases, I think that it would be awkward to capitalise the word. I don't know if all this makes sense, but what I am trying to say is that both spellings seem "correct" depending on the context. However, in the interest of thoroughness, you may need to google the two usages and check if this theoretical explanation can be confirmed empirically. TheArchon 12:40, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for asking, but unfortunately I am not the best person to comment on that, I have only a basic knowledge of the usage of capitalisation in English, not being a native speaker. I am particualarly unsecure in capitalising words or phrases where the orginal word was a name (e.g. Lindy), but the meaning has been changed to a common noun. I see what you are saying and will leave it that way, but I believe you are using the word "unique" a little more absolute than I was intending. Unique is defined in the dictionary the way you are using it "only, one of a kind". It is also defined as; u·nique [ yoo neek ] special: different from others in a way that makes somebody or something special and worthy of note. http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/unique.html

I believe this does make us, as Nazarenes, different from others in a way that is noteworthy. Any Church in todays world that has a stance against the social drinking of alcohol is Unique, in my opinion. List of colleges and universities in Washington

Greetings! When I made the AfD nomination on List of colleges and universities in Washington, I was looking at the proposed deletion and the reasoning given there. Once I saw it in the context of other lists for colleges in the US, I see how it fits together into that whole array of lists. I've also seen some of the other states' lists and see where this list is headed. Self-report inventory

Hi. I'm the guy that wrote the self-report inventory page, and I noticed that you removed a POV phrase from it. I created the page a week ago as a sort-of space saver so that I could reference self-report inventories as such without having to explain what they were in the couple of pages I've been working on/am planning to write. I got that far, which pretty much covers the basics, then I really couldn't go any further. As you're the first person to come by and say anything about it, and I noticed from reading your bio that you have an interest in psychometrics, I was wondering if you could give me a hand fleshing the entry out. No, you didn't step on any toes. Your background is interesting. Most of my work has dealt with the more active side of behavioral health, so I haven't done much testing, but I did research using the BDI and I'm a big fan of the Cognitivists, and they seem to use a lot of testing. As for the article, I'm glad someone read over it. Basically, if you have any ideas for polishing it, or any more information/sources to add, that would be great. I really like it. I think you have a firm grasp on why Wikipedian cats are potentially useful, and the detailed examples follow through on your thesis. The only modification that I would make would be to reword things so that AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD isn't left out. Grammar Nazi/Dance capitalism

Well to be honest, I didn't list myself as a grammar nazi. It was a case of vandalism by the user Deuxhero after I requested he run a spell check on his edits. About the capitalization issue, I honestly don't know. I'd guess that it wouldn't be capitalized but I don't have too much to back that up with. Ryan 03:51, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll just put in my two cents here. I think that if one is just naming a general type of dance, such as the waltz, then it does not have to be in capitals, but if one were to name a more specific type of dance, such as, I don't know, the Waterdance or something like that, then it would need to be capitalized.
