I have reviewed your request, and I believe the article you asked to be undeleted falls under speedy deletion criterion A7 - that is, it makes no assertion that the subject is notable. I have amended the deletion log, but the article remains deleted. If you wish to challenge my decision, you can make a request under the 'decisions to be reviewed' section of Wikipedia:Deletion review. --Sam Blanning(talk) 00:35, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Dear Sam,
Thanks for the explanation, but I'm still unclear about what's "notable" (I did read the relevant articles) when such articles as North Texas PC Users Group and Westchester Flames F.C. are considered suitable for Wikipedia. Is there a presumption that U.S. organizations are more notable than those in other countries? La'o Hamutuk publishes the largest-circulation print publication in Timor-Leste, in addition to being cited by journalists and media all over the world (which seems to be a qualification for "notability"). A Google search on "La'o Hamutuk" yields about 12,000 hits.
I don't have a copy of the now-deleted article, so I don't recall exactly what was included which would explain why the group is notable. Is there a way I can retrieve it from Wikipedia and edit it to try to meet your concerns? --Cscheiner 23:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
I have restored the article's text to User:Cscheiner/La'o Hamutuk. Sorry for not seeing your post earlier. --Sam Blanning(talk) 19:31, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
If you're not planning on working on the article soon, could you move it offline? There's an issue with having content we've deleted hosted in userspace for too long if it isn't being used. --Sam Blanning(talk) 23:16, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
