Hello, Cpetrov, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Nechako Housing Commons, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. A tag has been placed on Nechako Housing Commons, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy Deletion Contestion

[edit]

Hello Bbb23, thank you for your input. I would like to continue to contest speedy deletion of the page Nechako Housing Commons. I have reviewed this page and I believe it is now a sufficient source that uses objective language, academic sources, wikipedia sources, and is properly referenced. I hope this is sufficient to not remove this page. All sources have been linked underneath the reference heading and all writing has been updated to be objective, this should meet the requirements. (Cpetrov (talk) 22:53, 29 January 2022 (UTC))[reply]

The article has been deleted by another administrator. Please explain why you are creating this article. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:33, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am creating this article as an academic source for a Computer Science course at the University of British Columbia's Okanagan Campus. The article does not exist, the task was to make an article for a building on the Universities' campus. It is a helpful contribution to the campus and the Okanagan area. As stated previously it is now a sufficient source that uses objective language, academic sources, Wikipedia sources, and is properly referenced. Cpetrov (talk) 23:50, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia should not be used in this way. If you wish, you can contact someone at WP:EDUP for guidance for you and your teacher.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:56, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that if this source was unreliable, however, the source is accurate and still a contribution to the city of Kelowna and its residents. If you could please explain to me why my article is not sufficient to stay up I would appreciate it. I have followed all of the guidelines. I would think that my Professor at my Globally renowned and awarded University knows what is acceptable and what is not. They would not have asked us to publish an inaccurate article.(Cpetrov (talk) 00:14, 30 January 2022 (UTC))[reply]
I'm sorry but your opinion and your professor's on whether an article is acceptable to Wikipedia per its policies and guidelines are largely irrelevant. I gave you a path to follow. If you choose not to, that's up to you, but bear in mind that any article you create will be subject to scrutiny by more experienced editors and may be deleted. Repeated attempts to create non-notable, unencyclopedic articles may end up in you being blocked.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:24, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is not of personal opinion, I am following Wikipedia's guidelines. Should I have wanted to publish this on my own time it would have been up to the scrutiny of editors either way. You have not answered my question but have deliberately given me blunt and unhelpful information. I will be following the source you have given me. My attempt was encyclopedic and sufficient, your response was rude and unhelpful. The definition of encyclopedic is to be comprehensive in terms of information as was my article.

  • This appears to be a question of notability, no? I've hardly ever seen university dormitories seen as notable on Wikipedia, the only exception would be if they're on some kind of historic register. Cpetrov, perhaps you should read WP:GNG and WP:INDEPENDENT to get a better understanding of the issues here. This is only my suggestion, I don't know under what criteria the article was deleted. -Indy beetle (talk) 00:44, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Cpetrov. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Education noticeboard/Archive 22#Unnecessary Speedy Deletion.
Message added Mathglot (talk) 03:38, 30 January 2022 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.[reply]
  • Cpetrov, I understand you don't intend to move your sandbox to article space (what you call "posting"), but Wikipedia is not a platform for you to create a non-notable article in any space. I am going to delete it again, and if you recreate it, I will block you as WP:NOTHERE.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:05, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I recognize that you are frustrated with me, however, I am trying to learn and understand coding for Wikipedia for the purpose of one day making helpful contributions to the website. Regardless of my previous statements, I do take a personal interest in Wikipedia and I donate to ensure the website stays up as I feel it is an important aspect to the internet society. I went through the WP:NOTHERE link and I personally do not see that I am disregarding any rules by having the article in my sandbox without intent to move it to an article space. Thank you for explaining the significance of moving spaces and why creating non-notable articles in any space is not acceptable. I do however wish to continue to use the space to learn. I will accept your deletion and will not be attempting to recreate it. I was simply using the space as educational for my own purpose of becoming well-versed in Wikipedia to eventually be a member of this community. I would appreciate it if you did not block me as I am genuinely trying to respect this space and use it as Wikipedia intends. To reiterate, I am not going to recreate it, I want to respect this space, and I personally have no intent of disrespect towards this space. Thank you again. Please do not block me. (Cpetrov (talk) 21:15, 31 January 2022 (UTC))[reply]

I have no problem with you learning how to edit Wikipedia appropriately, but creating that article in your sandbox is not the way to go. I suggest you look for articles to which you can make small edits. At the same time, you should read the core policies of Wikipedia so you have a better idea of what is and what is not allowed. Take it slow. Wikipedia is not an easy place for new editors. You can also ask questions; a good place for that is the WP:Teahouse or the WP:Help desk, depending on the question. If after you edit something, you are reverted, try not to take it personally. If you don't understand the reason for the revert, you can always ask the editor who did it for help.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:22, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for my brashness, thank you for your suggestions. I appreciate the guidance on where to start. I initially did not recognize that my response would be sent to a real editor and I immediately recognized my mistake. I will definitely be using those for guidance on any questions I have. Thank you. (Cpetrov (talk) 21:31, 31 January 2022 (UTC))[reply]
