A tag has been placed on I-vu, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Waterden (talk) 22:17, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- I noted your concerns with the speedy deletion request for the above article, but have deleted the article as it was written in a promotional style and likely would have required substantial work to rewrite. I suggest that if you feel the product will meet our notability requirements and can be written in a neutral, non-marketing manner, you write a version in your user space and request a review at deletion review. - The difference between Freedom Scientific and I-vu is that the former is written in a neutral manner, while I-vu was promotional. (That's not to say that Freedom Scientific should be here, and I'll look more at it in a bit to see if it's worth a deletion discussion.) For example, most of the writing was along the lines of this sentence: The i-vu brings the advantages of a large CCTV to a handheld portable magnifier that will fit inside a pocket. - which reads like marketing material. Frankly, the whole thing read like a press release. To be acceptable, you are going to need to show that the product is notable. This is done by pointing out independent references in reliable sources such as magazines, newspapers, etc. - this can not be reprints of press releases or other such materials, but should be writeups by independent writers or reviewers. Please take a close look at the conflict of interest guidelines as well; if you're involved with the company, it may not be appropriate for you to work on the article.
