Proposed deletion of Jordan Santiago

The article Jordan Santiago has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

What it boils down to is this, in order to meet the inclusion criteria, a footballer must have played for in a fully professional league. No, I'm afraid not. The problem isn't with the formatting or how the article is written, but with the subject. In order for a certain subject to merit an article on wikipedia, it must meet certain inclusion criteria, called notability. For footballers, there are two relevant notability criteria: the general notability guideline, which says that any subject which has received significant coverage in reliable sources is considered notable, and football specific notability guideline, which says that any footballer who has played in a fully professional league or for his/her country's national team is notable. If and when Santiago makes his debut for Cardiff City, you are more than welcome to recreate the article, but at present the article fails both the guidelines I outlined earlier. Please don't take this personally. It is not intended to reflect on the quality of the work you've put into the article.
