bot down?

Hi, Coren! Is it possible that your invaluable bot is taking a well-earned rest? Could it have been fazed at not finding a subpage for 31 March? Could you ask it to resume its work? We'd all be grateful. Best regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:45, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

It fell victim to the same outage as many others laste March 30, and while I spend quite some effort making sure everything was back up I, of course, neglected to check mine. — Coren (talk) 12:43, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Hi Coren and Justlettersandnumbers. On This Page is a list I complied of all new-page creations by new accounts (all I can get with the current available toolset), in all namespaces except File, between the CSB's last tag on the 29th and its first tag on the first. Can the bot be run against this list? I didn't want to paste it all into the ad-hoc page without checking, but I can do that as well, (assuming the ad-hoc page will populate the SCV page). 122 Squadron SAAF

Hi Coren Your bot has queried the almost identical contribution of 122 Squadron SAAF to 120 Squadron SAAF. That is because historically they were sister organisations and set up exactly the same. Mistaken tag

See here I'm not even sure how it found this. —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:07, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I am working for the office. The text is not property of Harvard GSD (http://www.gsd.harvard.edu/#/people/frank-barkow.html) but rather an office intern text. Check that and talk to the people at Harvard and then please delete the box. Thanks... Steinsalz (talk) 15:02, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

@Steinsalz: It is your responsibility to document that appropriate permission has been granted, not Coren or any other editor. See WP:Donating copyrighted material for instructions on how to do this. --Ahecht (TALK

George M. Ashford, Maurice Harris Newmark

Hi there. Regarding the George M. Ashford and Maurice Harris Newmark articles: could you please put me on your list of trusted editors who create articles from PD material (with appropriate source attribution)? This is the third time in the last few weeks that CorenBot templates popped up on articles I was creating, and on my talkpage. Also see Dr. Blofeld's comment to you on January 26th, which Crow commented on. Thank you. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:27, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Yep. Done. — Coren (talk) 21:15, 9 April 2015 (UTC)

General-books.net - false positive

Hello, regarding this alert. Please note that www.general-books.net seems to be copying Wikipedia pages, and should therefore be excluded from Corensearchbot's results. Rgds, --Midas02 (talk) 12:56, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Sadly, it does not only copy Wikipedia pages so it's not possible to add a blanket exception to the site. — Coren (talk) 18:46, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

This article was created as part of a readjusting of the Ohio high school athletic conferences page in order to split the information into OHSAA-defined regions. This is a false positive, since the [1] page has copied directly from the Wikipedia page, and the info for the page is copy/pasted from the aforementioned Wiki article itself. There will be four more pages made (Central, Northeast, Northwest, and Southwest), all with the original athletic conferences page as its originator. Mtndrums (talk) 00:27, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

  • You're good, just do as you did here and make the first edit summary mention the article sourced from. The bot will still likely flag you, but you can safely remove the warning noting that this was an attributed fork. Thanks! CrowCaw 00:35, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

HRC discussions

Hi Coren,

Thanks for closing Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy)#Should_another_move_request_at_Hillary_Rodham_Clinton_be_permitted.3F.

Can I suggest that you delete a d from "about renaming and article" and include a link to Talk:Hillary Rodham Clinton/April 2015 move request? --SmokeyJoe (talk) 05:33, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Prix Émile-Nelligan

CorenSearchBot flagged this page as a possible copyright violation of page http://www.comoria.com/157744/Prix_mile-Nelligan which is actually a cut & paste of French Wikipedia page Prix Émile-Nelligan as it would have appeared around 2006 (including the "Lien externe" (External link) and "Voir aussi" (See also), although the comoria site gives no credit. The French Wikipedia page was created in 2005. I have removed the CorenSearchBot notice. Note that, even if the comoria site had been legitimate, this is a list of award recipients and so any site reporting this information would be somewhat similar in presentation and content. --Big_iron (talk) 12:06, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Sounds right to me. CSBot is just a dumb bot and is only just smart enough to point out that two pages look too alike, but not whether the similarity is legitimate or not – that's why it leaves everything to human review.  :-) — Coren (talk) 12:45, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

I got the text from [[2]] its the exact same thing. I use wikia instead of those other sites. Yay Dad (talk) 22:24, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
